Most unemployed young people in Zimbabwe have given up hope of getting a job in 2014. Pamenus Tuso talked to youths on the streets of Bulawayo.
“I have just completed my course on telecommunication and I do not see myself getting employment next year. I have submitted my application to several companies but the responses are not favourable. The government should open up to more players in the sector so that they can create competition and employment opportunities for other people.” – Simbarashe Ncube
“Next year, I’m planning to go to South Africa to look for a job. I graduated at the University of Zimbabwe as an engineer last year but I’ve been surviving through buying and selling vehicle spare parts from South Africa. Chekumirira muno hapana (There is nothing to wait for in this country).” – Tendai Mwatsidza
“The government has let down the youths of this country for a very long time. The future of the young people in this country is bleak as long as the government continues to marginalise the youths. It is ironic and a shame that political parties uses young people and women to win elections but, after winning the elections, they are discarded like a used condom.” – Tsepiso Mpofu
“I think the government should prioritise employment creation for the youths. For me, the focus of 2014 should be the establishment of centres that offer lifeskills. The government has failed to provide formal employment for young people and most of them have resorted to any means of surviving.”- Machel Tuso
“I and other young MPs in parliament are going to fight for the rights of youths in parliament. We need jobs for our youths who are graduating from our colleges and universities. The Youth forums in each province must be active and collectively put their case forward to all parties including business, unions,ngos,government et al. YOUR RIGHTS ARE BEEN ABUSED AND YOU ARE MERE TOOLS OF UNSCRUPOLOUS PEOPLE.

It”sbout job creation. Do the youth movements have ideas on how to create these jobs. What are their views on Indigenization, nationalization and F D investment?
Be hopful in this hoples situation
Some of your own were given 10usd and a voting slip and sold their birthright on July 31 so you may cry and ask about your future but we are asking you why did you accept to be used. Now youths if you are serious about your future, organise yourself and chase these old thick headed men away and out, democratically of course.
@Mita , i can shake your hand right now , we should ask this question to them instead of them asking us . The youth of our country is simple folding heads like tortoises , they think God will save them from the mess they are facing , bangomakoti sibili , basahlonipha kakhulu , so they must stop asking us question , stupid enough that they are always being used and they cant’t see , they had been running in front acting as if they are war verterians assisting ZANU PF to invade farms , now some of them are already kicked out of those farms , 31 July they were being transported to different polling stations to vote more that once for ZANU PF what have they benefited out of that ???? .They are very dishonest , they can be misled so easly , they don’t have vision , they have never dreamt of a better Zimbabwe , what else can they do apart from pushing themselves across Limpopo river to South Africa , some of them had been fed by crocodiles , their future will never be in South Africa , their future is here at home , they must wakeup , they must stop asking us questions while yawning deep in blankets .
@Munzwa , you are asking a wrong question to a sleeping youth , instead of an answer they will tell you about donkeys and cats , we waisted our money sending these guys to school , they have got degrees even in politics but those degrees have never worked for them , check a young boy in South African like Julius Malema not even well advanced in education compared to our own youth , check where he is today , he refused to be used by ANC and he had to speak out louder for his rights , thats what we need to see our guys doing and we will give them the necessary support they need from us , shame !!!!
