Zimbabwe economy needs more than Makandiwa’s prophecy

via Zim economy needs more than Makandiwa’s prophecy | SW Radio Africa  by Tererai Karimakwenda on Tuesday, April 22, 2014

Economists, politicians, clergy and many ordinary Zimbabweans have criticized a popular Zimbabwean prophet, who told worshippers at his weekend “Judgement Night 2” service that the country will soon see better days, and all because of prayer.

A huge crowd estimated to be over 160,000 participated in the all-night service, organized by preacher Emmanuel Makandiwa of the United Family International Church at Harare’s National Sports Center Sunday night.

Makandiwa prophesied that Zimbabwe was on the verge of a major economic and industrial boom that will bring back the good times and people will be able to move around the city and go shopping “even during the night.”
But many economists and politicians, including Erich Bloch, Job Sikhala and Shadow Economic Minister Tapiwa Mashakada, are reported to have weighed in immediately, saying what Zimbabwe needs is a change in government policy and foreign investment.
The Reverend Dr Roy Musasiwa at Domboshawa Theological College in Harare, explained that the idea of prophecy is not being practiced correctly by modern preachers, because biblical prophecy addresses the causes of the problems people are facing.

“If we examine the very meaning of prophecy as exercised by the Old Testament prophets like Amos, what they were judging were systems that caused the problems to manifest in the first place. They were prophesying against injustice, against greed and against the sinfulness of the nation,” Reverend Musasiwa said.

He added: “I am very concerned about giving people hope which is not based on industriousness, which is not based on hard work, but which is based on an expectation that things can just happen supernaturally.”

The Reverend explained that when God gave us the Garden of Eden, he said we must work on it, till it and take care of it in order to eat. This means we need to work to produce for our survival and not just expect miracles to save us.

Judgment Night 2 was attended by many top government officials, including the Tourism Minister Walter Mzembi, Local Government Minister Ignatius Chombo, Minister of State for Mashonaland West Ferber Chidarikire and his Midlands counterpart Jason Machaya.

Writing on the social network site twitter, one Zimbabwean said: “Our hope is being delivered by prophets while we listen to the silence of our leaders”.
Zimbabweans will remember how government ministers were duped by a so-called prophet into believing that diesel had been found in rocks in the Chinhoyi area. Some of the same officials who attended Makandiwa’s service fell for this embarrassing “prophecy” and visited the area out of greed, hoping to make a fortune. Off course no such rocks were found.

Makandiwa also reportedly launched a “miracle-working anointing oil” that he said would “bring glory” and “deal with all economic problems bedeviling the society”.

According to the Daily News, he then personally collected money for the Sunday offering while issuing a disclaimer against the “popular belief that church leaders were fleecing ordinary people”. The preacher claimed “God had told him that there was nothing wrong and that he should go ahead and collect,” the paper said.

I don’t mean to belittle anyone’s religious beliefs, but can’t people understand that the state of the economy has nothing to do with what their “god” thinks or does? Nor is the fact that Mugabe is going to rule over them till he dies, regardless of their actions or desires (or prayers). These are decisions made by people, evil people, not god(s).

By the way the manner and time of Mugabe’s death isn’t god’s will either. At his age it’s to do with the quality of his treatment and care. He get’s the best, while his subjects die young from treatable conditions.

Do you know what the Lord has categorically shown me? “No repentance! No restoration! Mukandiwa preaches a gospel with NO repentance. Zimbabwe is a sinful nation. We are under God’s judgment because of our sin: the church, the government and the people! You cannot separate repentance from the teaching of the true gospel: Christ and His cross! Look in your bibles. Look at the history of Israel and the nations around it. Every time they turned from God’s ways they fell into ruin, poverty, disease, the sword, civil unrest, disease and much more. Every time the religious leaders and people repented God restored. Simple yet we are too blind to see. Miracle oil indeed! That will just fill up the prophets coffers. The true church needs to weep and pray over this!

Absolutely, our local economic experts must be right, if we change the government to a socialist one supported by the trade unions where everyone gets more pay and companies don’t make profit then we have succeeded in closing down the economy for good – communism doesn’t work, it didnt work in Russia and wont work here. Trade Umions believe in communist doctrine that’s why they and Tsvangerai have done so much damage – they simply don’t understand that a businesss needs to make a profit to expand and encourage investment, employ more labour.

Apolitical what a load of rubbish. Zunu pf were the ones that wanted to force communism on us. That is why to this day they still call each other as Comrade which was the identifying name for communist in Russia and China. Zanu pf’s uncontrolled policies during the eighties and the nineties where they were trying to force these policies backfired as there was no control in wages. Some companies could not sustain the forced pay rises imposed by the Government and the large retrenchment packages forced by the Government and were paid forcing some companies to relocate or fold. Under performing workers that were fired went to Zanu pf, bought cards ,their cases were heard by Zanu labour offices and they were reinstated with hefty back pay. The National Railways was not spared as thieves that were fired were reinstated by order of the labour MinistrY and were paid enormous back pays. I DON’T KNOW WHERE YOU WERE DURING THIS PERIOD BUT YOU ARE A VERY CONFUSED INDIVIDUAL.

NBS you sound like God is limited and cant speak to people these days .i understand u well your point and thats biblical, but you are two sided, one side you condenm and judge, and you talk on behalf of the world, and your posts have so much emotions, yet using scriptures, we feel what u feel and have sometimes your thoughts, but when you are led by the spirit He can rebuke sp some thoughts in you before u even put then in black and white. The bible says touch not my anointed one. When u have the spirit of God you will know just like u know that u are born again. Ok did not moses take people to the red sea, the situation there were in needed strong amunition to defend themselves didn’t people complain why moses took them out of the same situation. Didnt God say when man say there is a casting down you shall say there is a lifting up. My challenge is here, when a christian side with the world. For u know the things of God are foolishness to a natural man. Stay Well and be a giver. Give back what God has given you., Givers dont complain they give. And those who are bussy complaing dont have anything to offer. Ask yourself one thing who anointed you to be a spcialist in condenming and criticise Pastors and leaders of the country. Your prayers can make a difference. Stay Well and be blessed

    • comment-avatar

Stay well that ‘touch not the annointed’ is one of the most abused scriptures in the bible and one of the least understood. I only write what I know is in God’s word. Throughout history the Lord has sent people to warn of impending judgment and to point out ‘our’ sins: individual and collective. I do NOT exclude myself from this. But I know God! And more and more every day. I am not happy with where Makandiwa has gone! I pray he comes back to that narrow road.

    • comment-avatar

Stay well, the other thing that disconcerts me bout Makandiwa is that he does not look like any Prophet of God I can find in the bible. Some have told me he came from a good place spiritually: he needs to go back there. Money and power and prestige corrupt and make us think we are something we are not. I do not want to see Makandiwa fall and lead many desperate Zimbabweans astray. I want to see him in God’s will. That is all! There is such a thing as discernment. It is a dying gift in the church today. More of us should seek earnestly after it.

@Stay Well NBS is just another short changed Zimbabwean who’s contributions are valued by some of us. He has his reasons to have doubts about so called Prophets who feed on the suffering people in the country. So have I. When he gets involved with Politicians and Politics also says a lot about who he realy is. There are people who were hit by a disaster recently what has the so called Prophet done to help alliviate their suffering. From the beginnig when realization that there was a God people have used the sciptures for their own benefit. They normally prey on the poor with promises of a better life whilst the enjoy the fruits of what they get from the poor. NBS is a man. I have not met him in person but what he contributes makes a lot of sense and I hope no amount of discouragement will make him stop. Know this, what is not of God will come to light at some point. This forum is for opinions so rather than condem an opinion tell us your thoughts and experiances with this so called Prophet. Educate us about the anointment of this man.

We need to be true to ourselves and the likes of Makandiwa are not making it any easier by siding with the devil.
IF Makandiwa cannot identify Zanu as of the devil, then we should be questioning his credentials.

I can say for certain that ZPF have been given much time to repent. many people have gone to them and shared God’s word or written. They have ignored! They persist in their sin. I do not warn because I do not care. I warn because I care. There are many fellow bloggers on this site to whom I feel a growing closeness. I feel their hearts and I see their desire for an end to this madness and evil that has and is causing untold suffering in this nation. I am not blind nor am I unfeeling. Every day I am brought face to face with people in dire distress. Does the government care? No! And that is why people like Apol disquiet my soul. Hoe can he/she NOT see the state of their nation? How can he/she not see where the root of the evil came from? We will keep praying and trusting. And NO I am NOT God but I do KNOW Him! And I long for Him to set Zimbabwe free!

There are no myths in the Gukurahundi Republic of Zimbabwe, everything is straightforward.

It is simply a Shona gukurahundi Republic in which everything is majoritarian; everything is done by force with no consultation with those affected; everything is about who you know and whether you speak the language of the majority for you to be served or listened to.

If you try to go to government offices and insist on your Mthwakazi languages, you will get nowhere.

Everything is an imposition – as long as you are a minority you have no rights in pracice; your rights are just on paper – the constitution and it ends there. Its a grab, grab, grab grab culture.

A culture of violence; a culture of intolerance. All this shouting about Makandiwa and judgement Day is just that.

All pretence, full of sound and fury signifying nothing.

Its a nation of heathens; a nation of Satanic verses – the The ZANU 1979 Grand Plan, which each and every Shona has meticulously adhered to consciously or unconsciously.

They today reject ZANU PF because it no longer favours them as it used to in the 1980s, but they will not abandon its culture and character of tribal and language intolerance.

Its a Andinzwi chindeeeeeeeeeeeeeere culture; a gukurahundi ZANU PF culture of taura choShona or dzokera ku Zululand. Its a total disaster – a wasteland.

This is time for desperate measures but to expect Makandiwa to come out with an economic recovery miracle to our defunct system would be crazy.

My own view is ZANU as a party are already oiling their campaign machine. It is ZANU that sanctioned this prayer day. In so doing they are identifying themselves with the Makandiwa followers, making it a perfect organisational strategy to woe that much needed urban vote for their survival. You don’t need to be a university professor to understand that where the leader goes so do the followers. This is grassroots organisation and ZANU continues to be streets ahead of all opposition parties.

Here’s the story of Rhodesia, a land both fair and great,
on the eleventh of november an independent state,
this was against the wishes of certain governments
whose leaders tried to break us down and make us all repent.

But we’re all Rhodesians and we’ll fight through thick and thin
we’ll keep our land a free land, stop the enemy coming in,
we’ll keep them north of the Zambezi till that river’s running dry
and this mighty land will prosper for Rhodesians Never Die.

They can send their men to murder and they can shout their words of hate
but the cost of keeping this land free can never be too great
for our men and boys are fighting for the things that they hold dear
and this land and all its people will never disappear.

Cause we’re all Rhodesians and we’ll fight through thick and thin
we’ll keep our land a free land, stop the enemy coming in,
we’ll keep them north of the Zambezi till that river’s running dry
and this mighty land will prosper for Rhodesians Never Die.

We’ll preserve this little nation for our childrens, childrens too,
once you’re a Rhodesian, no other land will do
we will stand tall in the sunshine, with the truth upon our side
and if we have to go alone, we’ll go alone with pride.

Cause we’re all Rhodesians and we’ll fight through thick and thin
we’ll keep our land a free land, stop the enemy coming in,
we’ll keep them north of the Zambezi till that river’s running dry
and this mighty land will prosper for Rhodesians Never Die.

Yes we’re all Rhodesians and we’ll fight through thick and thin
we’ll keep our land a free land, stop the enemy coming in,
we’ll keep them north of the Zambezi till that river’s running dry
and this mighty land will prosper for Rhodesians Never Die.

    ***** Rhapsody Of Realities *****

    CAPTURE HIS “THINKINGS”.

    Wednesday, April 23rd.

    Pastor ChRIS

He made known his ways unto Moses, his acts unto the children of Israel (Psalms 103:7).

There’re certain thoughts I like to describe as the “thinkings” of God; the way He reasons. He doesn’t think the way men do, so, it’s important to know how He thinks and why He thinks the way He does. What are the thoughts on His mind? Of course, when you look in the Word of God, you can get the answer to this question.

For instance, humans think that morning and evening make one day. They think the day starts when they wake up in the morning, and ends when they go to sleep at night; but God thinks differently. Every time the Word of God made direct reference to a full day, God would always say “evening and morning.” For example, in Genesis 1:5, God said, “… And the evening and the morning were the first day.” He doesn’t relate from light to darkness. Rather, He thinks from darkness into light; from evening into morning (read Genesis 1:8, 13, 19, 23, 31).

No wonder He says, “But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day” (Proverbs 4:18). Observe He didn’t say, “But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more from morning into evening.” Men think that the day ends with evening, but God says, “No; your day goes into morning!” isn’t that wonderful! He reasons so differently; and we’re the ones who need to come up to His ways of thinking.

If you’re born again, you’re born of His Spirit. Then, the Bible says, “If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit” (Galatians 5:25). We’re not only born of the Spirit, but have also been called to walk in the realms of the Spirit of God. To do this, we have to be spiritually minded. Our thinking has to become the “thinkings” of God; it has to be on the level of the Word of God, not on the ordinary plane of life. We need to learn and meditate on His Word so that we can capture His thoughts and His ways of doing things. 1 Corinthians 2:14-16 says, “…we have the mind of Christ.” Therefore, it’s possible for us to reason at the same frequency with Him.

    PRAYER
Dear Father, I thank you for flooding my heart with your divine thoughts, as I study and meditate on your Word today. My mind is sanctified to think at your level, and improve the quality of my life, as I walk in your ways, with my spirit conditioned for progress, prosperity and excellence, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

This Makandiwa character sounds like a true false prophet. He does the same crafty scams as Peter Popoff a proven fraud. Makandiwa has “miracle-working anointing oil”; Peter Popoff has miracle spring water. Popoff offers his TV viewers this free water and then his ministry eventually sends mail to the free water recipent asking for a donation. Constant mail after mail for what was supposedly “free” miracle spring water.

To be honest I have only ever tried listening to one of Makandiwa’s sermons but this article just makes me think more and more that this Makandiwa is a false prophet.

Jeremiah 5:25-31 25 Your iniquities have turned away these things, and your sins have withholden good things from you.

26 For among my people are found wicked men: they lay wait, as he that setteth snares; they set a trap, they catch men.

27 As a cage is full of birds, so are their houses full of deceit: therefore they are become great, and waxen rich.

28 They are waxen fat, they shine: yea, they overpass the deeds of the wicked: they judge not the cause, the cause of the fatherless, yet they prosper; and the right of the needy do they not judge.

29 Shall I not visit for these things? saith the LORD: shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this?

    30 A wonderful and horrible thing is committed in the land;

31 The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and my people love to have it so: and what will ye do in the end thereof?

Yes God was speaking to the house of Jacob in these verses but these verses still apply to Zimbabwe too.

    False prophets in Zimbabwe?
    Like who?
    Makandiwa?
    Judge ye.
