Mugabe – Bin Laden who is worse?

I have not written since April – not because I have given up but because of desperation.

Now is the time for all good people to rally together and stand firm against TERRORISM.

This is not about political alignment – this is about RIGHT and WRONG.

This is about TERRORISM!

Bin Laden’s terrible terrorist attack is against what he sees as his enemy.

Mugabe’s terrorist attacks are against his own people, the people who trusted him, the people he has betrayed and now because he wants to hang onto power against the popular vote he is terrorising them.

In April I wrote

“We are at the anniversary of the start of Mugabe’s latest reign of murder and terror (this is his 3rd stage, 1st was when he terrorised and brutalised his own people when fighting smith, 2nd when he beat the Matabele into submission during the Gukurahundi [Mugabe genocide] )

Now as we approach the Presidential elections the TERRORISM continues

When will sane people see the tyranny of Mugabe and his henchmen?

When will all GOOD MEN start doing something?

When will the international community condemn Mugabe outright?.

My name is Topper Whitehead    I am proud to be Zimbabwean and refuse to be intimidated or give up the fight for justice, democracy, freedom of speech and the rule of law.  I am sending this circular letter Number TEN – to all who have Zimbabwe at heart and to whom life and justice is precious.  Most of which I say today was said in previous letters but because of the seriousness of the situation will be repeated yet again because there are people who would rather “sup with the devil” than risk their money.  These people must ask – what of Judice – is it money or integrity – the choice is yours, as is you conscious.

I was on Bita Farm in Hwedza when the Commonwealth delegation visited at the invitation of the CFU so that the delegation could see what was happening in terms of the Abuja agreement.

Stan Mudenge attacked the Farmers.  He made no reference to his government’s failure, but  only blamed someone else—the white farmer—who has been the backbone of the economy for so long under a mismanaged and corrupt government.

Better Choto – an impostor posing as a settler – gave an intimidating and terrorising speech threatening further violence if land was not given.

Better Choto is not a bona fide settler – he has plots pegged on 4 other farms but none on Bita farm as he claimed. He also has a store and allocated land in the communal area.

He is part of the Terrorist Gang that goes around farms threatening the labour and farmer while paying and feeding the resident terrorists and settlers.

We have photographic evidence of him being on Chipesa Farm – some 50km from where he is supposed to be a landless peasant--on 16th Oct doing just that.

Snr Asst Police Commissioner Mary Masango spoke in half truths and gave an extremely biased synopsis of the security and violence in the area.

When the CFU suggested that the delegation took time to observe the damage to the farm this was refused by Mudenge who said there was no time

They saw nothing:

Not the deserted ghost accommodation

Nor the deserted school – we sat in the children’s playground but there were no children

Nor the houses that had been burnt by settlers.

For all the good it did the delegation might just as well have stayed in the air-conditioned Sheraton Hotel.

However I did manage to speak briefly with Baroness Amos before the police whisked me away by the scruff of the neck while in conversation.  She later sent her aid to me to ask for written statements, which I submitted.

Let us NOT forget who is behind this Madness

How did this start – a desperate and evil man turned against the people who trusted him so he could stay in power.

This will continue until ALL good people say NO MORE – those who have been doing nothing, and there are plenty of you, and hoping that IT would go away and not effect you or yours – WAKE UP – the  MADNESS will only stop when everyone says NO.

“We will heal together. We will defend our freedoms and liberties together. We will go forward together.”

Those who do not wish to join the struggle for democracy and freedom your day will come.

Corruption is stealing from the poor

You may ask “how can we help without being victimised” – you can help and the chances of being victimised or financially compromised are real – but are we to lie down and be trodden on for the sake of financial reward?  Are we to turn a blind eye so that we can continue the luxurious life style that this wonderful country has given us?  Are we to condone what is going on in the destruction of the country?  Say NO.  You don’t have to be outspoken but you MUST stop supping with the devil.

It is no longer apt to wait for things to happen – we must make thing happen!

The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in a moment of comfort, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy

                                                                                    Martin Luther King  Jr.

It is morally and ethically WRONG to be part of the wealth of Zimbabwe if you are not prepared to relate to the poverty and fight the injustices.

Sitting on the fence is COWARDICE

We have a situation that is far beyond politics – the break down of Law and Order and abuse of Internationally acceptable Human rites.

The greedy industrialist and the rest of us who purport to be the pillars of industry all ensure that Mugabe stays where he is.  Our greed ensures that we do not unite to fight the evil he is.

Our greed for material possessions ensures that we turn a blind eye to rape, murder and the like as long as it does not affect “me or mine”.

Mugabe is sly and cunning – he knows we are greedy, he knows we will betray our fellow man in return for material things, he knows how far to go.

I refuse to be intimidated and with total conviction I am doing what I can for the survival of this country and its 13 million people.  Help me to help the people to save the country.

The recent judgment handed down in America by Judge Victor Marrero is a morale booster for Zimbabwe – while he was prevented from finding Mugabe guilty because of the immunity issue he held him personally responsible and guilty as First Secretary of the ruling party.

Hiding behind immunity is almost a thing of the past.

Mugabe and ZANU PF’s actions are appalling, disgraceful and tantamount to treason.

If there is any person who suggests that there may be some good in ZANU PF – they should look at the facts and then ask if any good person can be associated with that!!  How can they be good?

Get real - get practical – look at reality - and get off the fence.

Mugabe thinks politically for himself and NOT economically for the country and 13 million people.  He has betrayed the people of Zimbabwe, even those to whom he is giving land. Betrayal is the worst sin and I despise the man for it.

Ask not what your country can do for you, but what can you do for your country.”                                                       John F Kennedy

For those who need reassurance that the net is closing on a wild corrupt and terrorist regime that has committed  extra-judicial murder and is destroying the country and committing the ultimate human-rights abuse – POVERTY let me remind you of the case we engineered in the USA because of the selective justice in Zimbabwe.

·       A lawsuit accusing Robert Mugabe and ZANU PF of human rights abuses was filed in the USA on 6th September 2000.

The Judge in New York ruled that Zimbabwe’s governing political party, ZANU-PF, was liable for murdering and torturing its political opponents in the run-up to Zimbabwe’s June 2000 parliamentary elections.  The plaintiffs went to a US Court because they had nowhere else to turn.  Savagely beaten and terrorized at home, they went to the USA for justice and the rule of law.

The court ordered judgment in favour of the victims of ZANU-PF’s campaign of violence, all of whom were targeted because of their peaceful support for democracy.  The lead plaintiffs, Adella Chiminya and Maria Stevens were suing on behalf of their husbands, one was burned alive and the other tortured and then shot by ZANU-PF assassins.   This decision lets Mugabe and his henchmen know that the civilized world will not allow their political terror to go unpunished.”

The court held that the plaintiffs’ “uncontested allegations amply demonstrate that ZANU-PF did not consist merely of loosely connected, haphazardly organized individuals or a misguided mob of marauders randomly roving and unleashing terror throughout Zimbabwe. Rather, Plaintiffs’ factual assertions and supporting evidence suggest that in carrying out the drive of organized violence and methodic terror portrayed that ZANU-PF worked in tandem with Zimbabwe government officials, under whose direction or control many of the wrongful acts were conceived and executed.”

The court held that ZANU-PF had been validly served with legal process when President Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe, who is also First Secretary of ZANU-PF, was served two copies of a Summons and Complaint while making a fund-raising speech in Harlem last September.  The court ruled that although Mugabe was personally immune from the suit in his capacity as head of state, he was not immune from being served with a complaint in his capacity as First Secretary of ZANU-PF.

The decision by Judge Victor Marrero of the Southern District of New York was handed down in an exhaustive 130-page opinion analyzing what it described as the “unsettled” law of head of state immunity.  While holding that Mugabe was protected from being personally sued by the head of state immunity doctrine, Marrero warned that the days in which such immunity would continue to prevail may be numbered.

Marrero issued a warning:  “These precedents instruct that resort to head-of-state and diplomatic immunity as a shield for private abuses of the sovereign’s office is wearing thinner in the eyes of the world and waning in the cover of the law.  The prevailing trend teaches that the day does come to pass when those who violate their public trust are called upon, in this world, to render account for the wrongs they inflict on innocents.”

Like Slobodan Milosevic, Mugabe is on the way out and all those who support him will ultimately be brought to justice.
