By Langton Ncube|The Dumiso Dabengwa  led , Zapu said President Emmerson
Mnangagwa should appoint  his Zanu PF party’s  spokesperson Simon Khaya
Moyo to the position of the  Vice-President.

Zapu told NewsDay that the appointment of SK Moyo to the Vice President’s
post was in line with provisions of the 1987 Unity Accord.

But according to SK Moyo the choice of who becomes Vice President is
President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s prerogative.

Zapu Harare provincial secretary-general Elphacy Dube said Zanu-PF had for
a long  time been appointing  the national chairperson as its second Vice
President but the tradition was broken when Mugabe chose Phelekezela
Mphoko over then national chairperson Simon Khaya Moyo.

“Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo was appointed VP by virtue of him being the
president of PF Zapu and Joseph Msika became the national chairman by
virtue of him being the vice to Nkomo at party level,” said Dube.

“When Nkomo died in July 1999, Msika took over as the VP and John Nkomo
became the national chairman.

This was a clear structure that Zapu PF followed so much that when Msika
died in August 2009, John Nkomo, who was the national chairman, took over
as VP and in came Khaya Moyo to fill the vacant post of national
chairman,” he said.

Dabengwa has no right whatsoever to demand that SKM be appointed VP. If nobody besides ED in ZANU itself can even suggest anyone, what gives him, a member of the opposition the right to do demand a person of his choice. Dabengwa, You Stop It! wazvinzwa ka.

What good will it be for anybody to be VP? Be it a Red Dog or a Brown Dog – it will still be a Zanu Dog?
