HARARE – There have been many questions on why we withdrew the presidential election court challenge. Our National Executive met on Friday and we were given a report by our lawyers stating that there were two problems confronting the court challenge.
One was that our application to get necessary information from the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission had been deferred without any conclusion so that heavily prejudiced our ability to present our case.
The second was that the Chief Justice Godfrey Chidyausiku had narrowed down the petition to one based on affidavits. We had hoped that it would be an open court with witnesses being called in to testify. Because of those two roadblocks placed our way it was futile to proceed with the case. It became very clear to us that this case was being predetermined.
Many of you have been made to believe that this marks the end of the road for us, that by withdrawing the court case, we have conceded defeat. Nothing could be further from the truth. The struggle has not ended. It is just starting.
This was just the legal route. The struggle continues in the political arena. We have never closed our avenue to continue with the political struggle. This is a political crisis and it requires a political solution. I still enjoy the mandate of my party as well as the support of millions of people who voted for change on July 31. Using that mandate, I will continue serving the people until we achieve the desired results.

Yes, they May still our victory. They May kill, beat or imprison us but we always bounce back like a basketball. Lets push in other avenues president Tswangirai. We don’t need their courts to win, just as they didn’t need Ian Smiths court to taste sweet victory. Mr President you not only liberating th e Mdc T. No I don’t think so. We have heard supplications in a similar vein before. I’d rather the case had proceeded to meet its fate in court. If this meant confronting the constitutional basis for frustrating the lawsuit then we would have subsequently proceeded that way, and hopefully exposed more fully the adulteration of justice in Zimbabwe. MDC lawyers should have known this in advance. Otherwise the entire opposition case is futile, leaving me to suspect that for the MDC leadership the mere process of standing up to ZANUPF, while building mansions and harems meanwhile, is the ultimate objective. Tsvangirayi is a giant on whose tottering shoulders someone else must stand before they collapse entirely, if that hasn’t happened already.
It may take time but good wil always conquer evil. The devil is at play in zim but every history student wil tel u that even those dictatorships that appeared formidable just crumbled in the end and with dire consequences. Now is the time for mdc t together with with other progressive political parties and civic groups, to join forces and confront zanu using many democratic and non-violent ways. Now is the time for mdc to put aside any intra party squabbles. Any cooperation with zanu is out. Let them rule alone. That is what they want after all hence the massive rigging. This must be a big lesson for mdc namely that when you decide to go out for dinner with the devil u must use a knife and fork which are five metres long or even longer.

Morgan is a decent chap and has done his best but he lacks the nouce to lead a successful opposition. He has made two crucial errors, the first in agreeing to the GPA in the form presented to him and the second in not pulling out of the recent election. During the GPA he also made continous noses about pulling out but never converted his threats into action. The proper thing for him to do is to resign as party leader. Lets have some fresh legs.

The best way forward is the political decision……my advice is that the executive must make good decisions, i know the arean will be full of participants such as the prof Moyos, the Ncubes, the Mutambara, the Kiss nots……make better decision on confiding information etc

Wise words from Tsvangirayi indeed but really what options do you have now. All you tell us is that this is a political crisis that deserves a political solution. People are angry and need pointers as to the way forward. A lot of Zimbabweans would be prepared to take to the streets and participate in popular protests but you need to provide guidance. Otherwise we might as well congratulate Mugabe on his well stolen victory now

Tsvangirai and his closest advisors were naive and arrogant in the extreme, believing that Zanu PF would not do all in their power using the stolen diamond revenue to rig these elections. He should have only signed the GPA if he was allocated first choice of Cabinet posts as his was the majority party, and if it included the disbandment of the ZEC so it could be reconstituted by Parliament, and that the tainted Government officials be forced to step down (Mudede, Chihuru the generals etc). Had he not achieved this then he should have refused to proceed with elections until the GPA had been fully complied with for two years. Given their naivety they should all step down and new less gullible leaders appointed.

I disagree with many desktop political supporters and commentators. Tsvangirai claimed to have the evidence when he has nothing to present to take to the courts. that is taking us for a ride n I am not surprised that his support is falling heavily like the Greek economy. the guy who claims rigging without proof. the guy who predicted resounding victory only to make a u turn 6 hours later. The only guy who campaign by threatening civil servants n armed forces. the foolish guy who threatens our war veterans n traditional leaders. this guy is a joke n will never get my vote again.
Claiming rigging where there is no rigging will not help. Work on your dwindling support maybe you might be luck in 2018. do not offer FDI to rural folks those guys need something tangible. learn from ZANU PF. never quote any saying from outsiders especially British; Australia an or American. Zimbabweans value their independence n that’s where Tsvangirai gets it wrong all the time. remember to be a president you need numbers not noise makers
