Gukurahundi victims wont be re-buried, Govt says

via Gukurahundi victims wont be re-buried, Govt says – Zimbabwe Focus 13 October 2013

Gukurahundi victims will not be re-buried as goverment runs the risk of including people who do not deserve the privilege, Home Affairs deputy minister Ziyambi Ziyambi has said.

Human rights groups say up to 20 000 people were killed by the North Korea-trained 5th Brigade in Matabeleland and the Midlands soon after independence.

President Robert Mugabe refused to apologise for the mass killings saying dissidents should also be held accountable.

Mugabe once described the genocide as a moment of madness.

The Zanu PF minister made the remarks during a question and answer session in the Senate on Thursday after MDC-T senator Dorothy Khumalo asked if the government would extend its programme to rebury remains of people who died during the liberation war to victims of the Gukurahundi genocide.

“There are remains of people who fought in the war and they have not been buried properly” Khumalo said.

“I would think if that is done, similarly there are remains of people who died during the Gukurahundi which have not been buried properly. I hope we are also going to think about them and bury them properly.”

However, Ziyambi said burying victims of the massacres, some who were thrown into mine shafts in Matabeleland and the Midlands would be problematic.

“The problem we have is that we have a case whereby we are going to bury people whose cause of death we are not aware of,” he said.

“We will run into the problem whereby we even bury people who are not supposed to be buried by the State.

“This is quite a difficult question because when we are following this reburial programme, we have to follow the channels set up by the government. We have to follow the criteria required for the people to be reburied, people with a specific history.”

Stupid, ignorant and foolish minister. How can you say such remarks. So you say just a few undeserving bodies will block the burial of thousands of people massacred during the Gukurahundi by your own people and you dare say such insensitive remarks. You don’t deserve to be a minister and I wonder what kind of a party appoints people like you to stand for other people. MORON!!!

Excuse me here!!!!.Reburial is a sign of regret the atrocities. If you as a respectable minister say the remains must remain as they are, I am not surprised because ZANU PF is reduced to an institution of mindless polititions. We do not have money to compensate victims, but through the grace of the LORD, we have voices to say we are sorry.Only WE ARE SORRY,definitely heal some wounds. These thuggrish comments from overzealous officials is regrettable.Pleas find ways to go to Mat South and try to design food production systems to ensure the region is hunger free. This empty minded comments do not work.As I see it, we need ideas to feed primary pupils at school, eradicate starvation in Matebeleland, control deseases, revitalise the economy and dualise the BB-Harare road.

Has it ever occured to Dorothy Khumalo that the head of Chaminuka was hacked off by Lobengula at KoBulawayo, and his bones are lying somewhere in Matebeleland South? HAs it ever occured to Dorothy that her own grandpa ahcked that head off? Has it everoccured to her Chaminuka’s bones need to be reburried? Is it the government that should do this? Does she has any remorse for Chaminuka? What of the millions of harpless Madzviti victims whose heads were hacked off By Mzilikhazi himself, plus Rubhengura Gukuramachangani?
Reburrial of bones of the departed is a good idea to bring peace and lift the curse of draught from the land. But it must be carefully studied first which bones were harpless and which bones were not; which bones brought curses to which lands; and which bones deserve reburial. That having been said, I guese the deputy minister of home affairs is right. Not all bodies deserve reburial. Some of these bodies are the bodies of thugs and mugs. Let them rot. Eeyyymmmeeeeeen!

Never mind the actions of Zanu and its leader. Soon Mugabe is going to meet all his victims. Unfortunately for him, this time he will be all alone. There is no denying of the fact that he is now rotten cabbage. He can brutalise you for now but his days are numbered. By the time he meets his victims, the notorious CIO, Gukurahundi, the army and the police won’t be there to defend him. Oh how I wish I was present. Novertheless, they are waiting for you. Better arm yourself with protective armour. They will kill you a second time.

@shame, your comments are devoid of any meaningful substance. The question here is for the government to act in a manner which gives our people, those who died under Gukurahundi a more dignified re-burial. You seem to be bit about the whole exercise

Zwenini ndoda, you are all emotional illogical wracks. Khumalo imported a stupid subject when the core business of reburying war veterans was being discussed. All I am asking is why associate Gukurahundi victims with war veterans, unless someone believes they were fighting a certain liberation war from someone-which further consolidates the rumour that this wa not a genocide on harpless folks. it was the defeat of a whole population at war with government-otherwise why recognise the dead among liberation war heros? Plus hey mani, don’t shout at me. I have a right to denounce the Khumalo descendents for the heinious crimes commited by Rubhengura. Why prevent me? Are you saying that was right? if your thinking is that the Khumalo vampires have a right to mug harpless folks’ heads and never own up shame on you!If you think that when they lose their own heads to someon’e axe they have all rights on earth to make bountless enquiries with everoyne bowing down in abeisence, then two shames on all of you.The Khumalo folks have no right to open their mouths and talk aboiut any victims. They are the chief culprits. you all know that but you are too stupid to tell them fokofu. Now enough of this Tom Foolery. Let the Khumalo cattle rustlers stand up and apologise for all the beeves they stole, and let them hand back all the women they raped, and all the heads they choped off at KoBulawayo. Then I, Shame, sibling of Shame and a half will shake their hands and open a castle lagger, in libation to that shameles skull-bashing cattle ruslter Mzilikazi. Sorry,Khumalo’s grandfather. My sorry to you Brainless Khumalo captives. Its your grandfathers whose heads were chopped off whilst your grandmothers were raped to produce your lineage. And you want to thank Khumalo faor making you what you are? Shame, shame, shame, niggers.

Ladies and gentlemen, true Zimbabweans, let us forget about this “shame” the guy’s mouth is too foul.Who said this is about the Royal Khumalo family or King Lobengula in particular? Insults just flow out of his mouth as he breathes. He hates fellow Zimbabweans,(Ndebeles) so much that he even refuses to spell “Lobengula” correctly. He is indeed a Gukurahundi unto himself. Only a Gukurahundi can publicly tell the whole nation that it is “stupid”. Just forget about the fool, he will never reason. shame on him. shame, shame, shame

Shame, you don’t have to be Nguni or Ndebele to recognize Lobengula as King of the Amandebele. You dont have to like him either. I don’t have to be Shona to recognize Mbuya Nehanda and Sekuru Kaguvi. I just have to be a reasoning Zimbabwean who accepts the national history as it is. If there are things that were done wrongly, especially those that we were either part of or we witnessed, like the Gukurahundi massacres, let us work together to correct those for the good of our future.

South africa was blessed. There was no gukurahundi in 1994 on Bhuthelezi and the Zulus because there was a sane and visionary first black president. in zimbabwe it was the opposite. there was a three headed blood sucking creature on the throne. the effects of this animal’s actions will haunt us for generations. whoever facilitated the animals rise to power will burn in hell. it is being petty and uncilvilsed to be tribal. this is now a gobal village. but leaders who play tribal politics to remain in power make people think that tribalism is real. its not, its just a mistaken belief which sticks to a person’s mind.it only needs all embrassing leaders like mandela and everyone will forget it
