PRESIDENT Robert Mugabe’s mini-Cabinet reshuffle is an entrenchment of the ruling party’s patronage system that will not benefit ordinary Zimbabweans, the MDC led by Welshman Ncube said yesterday.
MDC spokesperson Joshua Mhambi said the new Cabinet line-up had “no capacity to tackle the myriad of challenges confronting Zimbabwe”.
“The Cabinet reshuffle by President Robert Mugabe was nothing but recycling of Zanu PF deadwood which does not have the capacity to tackle the myriad of challenges plaguing Zimbabwe,” he said.
“We have seen absolutely no improvements in the economy since Cabinet appointments in 2013 and the reshuffle prior to this one.”
The MDC said it saw no prospects for a turnaround in any form during Mugabe’s lifetime.
“In addition, the MDC views this reshuffle as yet another opportunity for Zanu PF fat cats to award one another chances to loot from the country’s nearly depleted fiscus,” Mhambi added.
“Therefore in our view the reshuffle was only meant to benefit Zanu PF and its interests and not the people of Zimbabwe”.
The Cabinet reshuffle was the second in six months.

Mugabe’s ideology is all about power retention. Mugabe wanted one party sate in 1990s, did he ever revoked that dream. Tekere challenged him bu forming ZUM, but he never stopped that dream. Mugabe knew in 1975 when they temporally installed him as caretaker chairman of ZANU PF in Mozambique that he will not step down no matter what. People like Tongogara and other renowned carders died for ever mentioning his stepping down. Mnangagwa currently is in a race for presidence but Mugabe is not prepared to pass the baton stick, may be if Bona or Robert Junior were grown up he would. The only solution is a bullet in his head like Kabila, Saddam, and Gadhaff. Any other solution will not work, he has managed to out live all his rivals regardless of ill health, in the process gobbling millions of dollars that could be used to sustain the country for the better of every one. People need to make a decision of sacrificing their lives and save the future generation least this old man will accumulate debts for the next generations all in an effort not to die. Accumulate billions of debts for medical and security all to defy death. Mnagagwa was cheated and fought Joice Mujuru who was popular and could have made Mugabe retire peaceful by organic change of ZANU PF leadership. but due to greediness he thought Mugabe would hand power to him, now the baton is not even near. In ZANU PF Mnangagwa is not even a near challenge to Muh=gabe, now stories of his dubious war history is coming out just like Joice Mujuru, at least Mujuri’s history has much evidence to be disputed, g=for Mnangagwa even Kombai confirmed that Mnangagwa is Zambian and may have never fought much of the war but practicing law and only joined in the dying minutes and was body guard for Mugabe, it seem like Mugabe never promoted him since he is still the same old body guard now called VP.
