Mugabe turns to God

PRESIDENT Robert Mugabe has instructed that Zimbabwe hold a period of national prayer as the severest drought looms and the country teeters on the brink of a socio-economic and political crisis.

BY staff reporter

A group of clerics from across denominations known as the Zimbabwe Heads of Christian Denominations (ZHOCD) yesterday told journalists in Harare that churches will also begin a process of mobilising resources to avert famine.

ZHOCD spokesperson Shingi Munyeza said Zimbabweans needed to “turn from our wicked ways”.

“Following discussions with the Acting President Phelekezela Mphoko who said he had authority from the President, we have agreed to call the nation and all Christian denominations to prayer from the 9th of January to the 17th.

“It was a spiritual request and as the prophetic voice of God we must respond responsibly. We as the body of Christ have chosen to respond to this request with responsibility as required of us rather than be irresponsible or reckless,” Munyeza said.

“This is a kairos moment that we, as a people, reflect on our ways and errors, recognise we have sinned against God, repent and seek the face of the Lord for the revival and restoration of our nation and land.”

Munyeza, who chose to be diplomatic, said Zimbabweans had collectively sinned against God, but would not be drawn into commenting on whether the “poisoned political environment” was to blame for “God’s anger”.

“The Church has sinned against God, and State actors have not acted in the manner God would have expected, so we need to walk away from sin.

“We must repent from our wicked ways and repent from our sins. In some way we have not been good stewards of what God has given us. Zimbabweans need to walk away from our sins,” the businessman-turned-clergyman said.

Zimbabwe has particularly in the last decade and a half experienced frequent droughts and food shortages.

Asked if Mphoko had revealed the extent of hunger Zimbabwe was facing and the number of people likely to require food aid, Munyeza said this was currently being figured out.

“We will work with provincial administrators to find out the extent of hunger. We did not want to have figures thrown at us so we will begin the process of finding out and ascertaining the help that is required,” he said.

“Recognise we have sinned against God, repent.”
I am not a believer myself Bob, but when in doubt, refer to
a few guidelines from the holy book.

2: You shall not make ZANU-idols.
3: Honor your father Matabili and your mother.
4: You shall not murder the Matabele.
8: You shall not steal private white farms.
9: You shall not bear false witness against your Matabele neighbor.
10:You shall not covet private property of whites and Matabele.
I don’t believe you will burn in hell, as you should, but your name will live in infamy forever.

That sounds very logical but how about making it a joint prayer session in respect of praying for the state to tell the nation why it abducted Dzamara.

It sounds true. The country has sinned against God. People must not be treated they Mugabe did in 2000. God has every right to sjow his anger on how people got oppressed by the old Mugabe regime. Beta spray

Indeed the country has sinned by emracing racism and theft.

But leading and instigating that sin is no other than The Tokoloshe himself! If there are any prayers, they will be prayers for his demise and removal.

Why waste your time on God, that’s white mans magic, just get some crazy village idiot to dance around a rock and with all your (un)educated ministers watching and she will be able to produce water from the rock, ( with the help of a Kamina Kawena, or a Briggs and Stratton)

Hopefully this is the socio economic and political crisis that will be the downfall of Mugabe. Mugabe and Zanu Pf are only interested in one thing and that is their continued stay in power. Whilst I have no doubt that God could help perhaps Mugabe should take the advice of his previous RBZ Governor Gono who once included the following “biblical quote” in a monetary policy statement. “God helps those who help themselves”. In effect Mugabe and his team have been helping themselves for the past 35 years and now as this country unravels there is nothing in the storehouse. So as they call upon God and the world to assist why do they not share their own resources rather than relying on the generosity of the evil west and racist whites. Luckily for Zimbabwe the West and most Aid Agencies are gullible and will not call for the personal commitment of those who have caused the problem.
