For 14 years Barbara was the woman behind the Zimbabwe Situation, a key online news source that gathers information from every possible publication and puts it all in one place, so people can easily check on a daily basis to find out what is happening in Zimbabwe. SW Radio Africa pays tribute to one woman who just wanted to do her bit to try and make the country she loved a little better.

Barbara’s excellent work has provided the informational framework for so many and so much work to be undertaken in measuring the corruption and evils of Zanu. Many of us all over the world are extremely grateful for all her great work and thankfully her legacy continues with the continuation of the website. We thank you Barbara. It is difficult to truly measure your overall effectiveness but deep down, we know it is enormous. Barbara’s power of goodness lives on!

All respect to this lady. Not only did we consistently get news and updates, but the reports were and still are impartial. Winston Churchill said “The further back you can look, the farther ahead you can see” because of her we can see a future.. RESPECT TO YOU FINE LADY.

NBS, MikeH, John Thomas, ntaba, Hasu, Doctor do little, Jack the rabbit, roving ambassador, Hutu, Tjingababili and many others who place constructive comments here. Thank you.

Barbara Goss and her daily efforts over 14 years have been monumental. Take a moment to drop thanks here https://www.zimbabwesituation.com/about-zimbabwe-situation/ (they’ll remain in the archive for good).

Barbara revels in well-deserved retirement. The lady drops in daily on this project aimed at supporting independent voices in Zimbabwe. So watch your P’s and Q’s – regular moderation rules apply,

    Easter 2014 is done.

    Let’s continue the “all-comers” debate.

Better still let’s support change for a better future for Zimbabwe, our children and theirs. They deserve a better legacy than what’s on offer!

    It’s our choice.

So many of us owe Barbara so much for keeping us and the world informed about the goings-on in the old country, a bond we can never break – wherever we are. Thank you for your efforts over all these years – my first port of call every morning at the computer and so it will continue to be.
Enjoy your well-earned retirement, go easy – go well.

I wish to join SW Radio Africa and many people who have paid tribute to one of Zimbabwe’s unsung heroes Barbara Goss for harnessing the internet in pioneering the zimbabwesituation website. I have immensely benefited from Goss’s work in my research on Zimbabwe’s seemingly endless crisis. Surely, I am of the view that we could set up a Barbara Goss Foundation (promoting media freedom, diversity and tolerance)in appreciation of her good deeds while she is still alive. The Foundation would need to pay to Goss a life pension for the wonderful work she did for Zimbabwe for no pay for 15 years. SWRadio Africa could be asked to help sound out people about the feasibility of this idea (given their ideal organising role as a media body) by inviting volunteers to form that Foundation. There are many ways of doing fundraising including for example auctioning of donated items from prominent Zimbabweans at home and in the Diaspora. It is just an idea.
