Culverwell joins ZUNDE

via Culverwell joins ZUNDE February 13, 2014  by Information & Publicity – ZUNDE

Senator Joseph Culverwell was a veteran educationalist, psychologists and nationalist who selflessly served Zimbabwe before and after independence. He is one of the genuine heroes whose remains were befittingly interred at the national shrine. The history of Zimbabwe’s senate will not be complete without his name. Between 1981 and 1988, Senator Culverwell was a respected leader of the senate.

Today, Zimbabweans United for Democracy (ZUNDE) is pleased to announce that Eldridge Culverwell, Senator Culverwell’s son, has made the decision to join our quest for democracy, freedom, dignity and humanity. Eldridge subsequently accepted the onerous but important role of Secretary for International Relations which he assumes immediately. Among other functions, he will be ZUNDE’s principal advisor on international relations, foreign policy and strategy.

A Mechanical Engineer by profession, Culverwell is well travelled. He has lived and worked in a number of countries which include Zimbabwe, South Africa, France, Holland, Norway, Pakistan, Hungary, Bulgaria, Iran, Canada, Wales and Scotland. Eldridge has also been involved with several pro-democracy and human rights initiatives in the United Kingdom including but not limited to Operation Black Vote. Quite known to the House of Commons through his unrelenting fight for social justice and equality, he is also an active and long standing member of Stroud Green Resident Association in the UK.

Asked what inspires him, he quotes Martin Niemöller an outspoken foe of Adolf Hitler:

“First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out because I was not a Socialist. Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out, because I was not a Trade Unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out- because I was not a Jew. Then they came for me–and there was no one left to speak for me”. He goes on to say“Zimbabweans, this is our time to speak out!”

With external structures nearing completion, ZUNDE will soon be rolling out internal structures, progressively. Thereafter, our focus will shift to the all-important consultative process of policy formulation. We call upon Zimbabweans to be patient with us as we cannot afford to rush a project of national importance such as this. Rest assured, we are coming.

Zimbabwe is for everyone guys, if we want to talk abt history we fight each other every now and then. Yes we should know our history but not the way zanu pf is doing.

ZUNDE is not in the business of manufacturing people. If somebody is well-known, does that mean he or she does not have freedom of association as ensrhined in the Zimbabwe constitution??? What is your point really or what are you smoking???

Zunde, yours is a noble idea and at present it would appear that you have the best intentions of helping to resurrect our once beautiful and prosperous nation. However, as you can imagine, it will be a long walk to freedom. Hopefully you will deliver something good, but you people also need to present us with a ‘real face’ and you will surely have to lure much more influential ‘good apples’ than Culverwell, if he is in fact that. Best of luck in your efforts towards these goals. I have no doubt that all progressive and peace loving Zimbabweans are ready to get behind a party or someone who really has the substance to deliver us from the evil ways of ZANU PF. Pamberi nekusunungura nyika yedu!!
