The MDC has dismissed the suspension of party president Morgan Tsvangirai and the party’s top hierarchy by rebels calling for leadership renewal yesterday as a clumsy coup d’état attempt.
In an interview with the Daily News on Sunday yesterday, MDC spokesperson Douglas Mwonzora said the meeting was meant to destabilise the party.
“This is a clumsy attempt at a coup d’état by some timid leaders who are too spineless to contest leadership of the party at congress,” Mwonzora said.
He said the gathering which was called for by party secretary-general Tendai Biti was not a meeting of the national council — the supreme governing body outside congress.
“Biti does not call national council meetings, only the chairperson and president have the right to call meetings. His duty is to simply write formally advising members of the council,” he said.
Mwonzora added; “This is part of the elaborate covert programme by State security agents, Zanu PF, Mugabe and Welshman Ncube to destabilise and de-brand the MDC.”
The MDC rebels however, insisted yesterday they did everything above board and were already preparing for the next election under a new leadership.
Speaking to the Daily News on Sunday soon after the meeting, the rebels’ spokesperson, Jacob Mafume said:
“We will now look at how we are going to tackle the next election under a new president. We also need to engage other
opposition parties because we have realised that we need to come up with a united front to fight dictatorship,” Mafume said.
He said the meeting declared the expulsion of deputy treasurer general Elton Mangoma, youth assembly chairperson Solomon Madzore and nation executive member Last Maengahama as unconstitutional.
The meeting was chaired by Samuel Sipepa Nkomo who is also a member of the advisory council to the president.
But Mwonzora queried how suspended individuals would sit and deliberate on their suspension.
“It is such an awkward thing to have happened in the presence of a lawyer of Biti’s experience that a suspended person sits to determine his suspension. It is so amateurish, it confounds the mind,” he said.
Other top party leaders who attended the renewal team meeting are youth president Solomon Madzore, Promise Mkwananzi, Mangoma, provincial chairpersons; Paul Madzore (Harare), Wachi Sibanda (Matabeleland South), Wilfstus Sitemere (Masvingo), Costin Muguti (Midlands North), Julius Magarangoma (Manicaland), Sengezo Tshabangu (Matabeleland North), Bulawayo provincial secretary Regie Moyo and Evelyn Masaiti.

Fellow bloggers and readers there is that Zimbabwe Institute (ZI) headed by Isaac Maphosa it is the most dangerous instrument of destabilisation. ZI works with both the CIO and international donor agencies to destabilise the opposition. For example Isaac maphosa was given custody of all former Jomic vehicles by the Norwegian ambassador and all the money that was left from the premature termination of GNU. Isaac Maphosa has not been asked to account for the resources of ZI by anyone. Now he has bought Tendai Biti and his grouping a $300 000 property in milton park, just behind the Fedex offices that these Mbiti elements have turned into offices. Isaac Maphosa is always seen surreptitiously appearing at forums that one cannot explain how he gets there. For example he did he become the chief administrator of that toothless institution called Jomic. What did it achieve other than give legitimacy to a moribund zanupf and pave the way for its acceptability.
It is a fact that as we speak Tendai Biti and Elton Mangoma are in negotiations with Patrick Chinamasa and Nicholas Goche for yet another GNU where Zanupf and will be the senior partner. Yes this follows Mbeki’s visit to Harare a few weeks ago. Tendai biti and Elton mangoma are sellouts of the worst kind.

Give them a President and they will convert him into a chief. We are conditioned not to question people of authority, even when they steal and fornicate in public view. The Bible says that God knows what’s in your heart; He knows what you need, even before you ask Him (Matthew 6:8). Now, if He knew your requests before you asked, it means He also already had the answer prepared. However, He requires your faith to make that answer real to you. The responsibility to receive is yours. Faith isn’t just based on asking, but also on receiving. Mark 11:24 says, “Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.”
Many know how to ask, but they don’t know how to receive. At the point of asking in prayer, you’re to believe that you’ve received what you’ve asked for; that’s faith! But if you’re hoping that God will answer your prayer someday, that won’t work, even though you believe it. So take possession now; declare that the healing, blessing or miracle you desire is yours now! Faith receives now! You say, “Father, I’ve asked for such-and-such, and I receive it NOW in the Name of Jesus.”
Remember that you don’t have to see what you’ve received with your physical eyes first to know they’re already yours; once you’ve taken possession with your spirit, soon enough, they’ll show up physically. Faith is the substance of things hoped for, and the title deed of unseen realities. In other words, faith calls real and done that which you hope for. Hebrews 11:1 says, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” That means the things you hoped for are now your present-hour possessions.
Faith doesn’t try to get something to happen; rather, faith knows and accepts that it has happened, and confesses and endorses it to be so now. Faith takes possession NOW!

Zimbabweans, its high time we see these politicians for who they are. Are we aware that RG n his ZPF are no longer viewing Morgan as a threat. To them he is a clueless politician who is nothing more than their copy cat. The real threat to zanu pf in my opinion are the very mdc leaders who are trying to create an awareness to the general mdc membership on the serious shortcomings of their leader and how it works against the ideals that formed the very foundations of their party – democracy. Zanu pf has capitalised on this by swiftly coming to the “defence” of such voices. The aim of zpf as I see it is to taint them, that is, making the general mdc membership see them as or label them traitors, zpf projects etc. Ultimately, mdc members’ attention n allegiance is diplomatically deviated from the leaders who have the potential of turning around the country’s politica fortunes. Just wait n see. U will hear them(zanu pf) falling over each praising Biti and n his associate. This in my view will be painting them with a filthy brush. Remember Jonathan i zpf!!!??
It seems that NO Zimbabwean politician, regardless of affiliation, actually cares about the interests of the Country or its people! The MDC, with its public in-fighting and back-stabbing, has totally lost credibility and is putting smiles on the ugly-mugs of Zanu.
The ONLY hope for our Homeland is for an ENTIRELY NEW party to come together, comprised of intelligent, educated people who put Country BEFORE Self.
