Newly appointed Media Information and Broadcasting Minister, Jonathan Moyo says the MDC-T’s boycott of the opening of the first session of the country’s eighth Parliament today was of no significance.
All the MDC-T MPs and senators boycotted the official opening of Parliament in protest over what it views as rigged elections at the end of July.
“This (boycott) is a very eloquent statement that they (MDC-T) are still troubled by the fact that they were boycotted by the people of Zimbabwe when Zanu (PF) got a resounding and emphatic mandate (at the polls). They are the authors of their own irrelevance and you cannot be relevant when you are boycotting,” Moyo said.
The four legislators from MDC-N, however, attended the first session of Parliament. They were led by party Secretary General, Priscilla Misihairabwi-Mushonga.
MDC-T spokesperson, Douglas Mwonzora said there was nothing to gain from attending the ceremony presided over by President Robert Mugabe.
“There is nothing to gain in attending Parliament’s opening; nothing special will come from the opening except the same old things and we cannot bless fraud because that is exactly how Mugabe became president.”
He added, though, that MDC-T would attend all parliamentary business as long as Mugabe was not there.

This chap should rather shut his big mouth, for he also fell a victim of being ‘robbed of victory’ (as he pit it himself), although he gained into into cabinet through back-door. That is why the ballot boxes were never to be opened, as worms will come out from the can.
Stupid MDC T idiots are being used by the losers in their party. Are they going to boycott the perks that come with the job? Were they voted for boycotts or to represent their constituents. The only way they can bring bread to their voters is by working positively with zpf. You don’t have to like zpf, but the truth is they are in charge. If they accepted to be sworn in as MPs (accepting the elections in their constituencies) then they should accept Bob’s swearing in as president, Head of State, CIC of the Armed Forces (Life president).
