#mugabe has no clue: Tsvangirai

via Mugabe has no clue: Tsvangirai – DailyNews Live 12 MAY 2014

Opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai told party supporters in Norton yesterday that he was not going anywhere as he took a dig at President Robert Mugabe who he described as clueless.

The MDC leader, who has successfully warded off a coup attempt from within his party, told his supporters that he had budgeted for a marathon and not a sprint race.

Speaking on the backdrop of a deepening economic crisis and internal party squabbles, the MDC leader said Zanu PF, although reluctant to negotiate, will be forced to swallow its pride by the worsening economic situation in the country.

“Zanu PF will not solve the present problems. For the past 35 years, we have known only one ruler and now we must ask ourselves what happened during those years, (former Rhodesian Prime Minister Ian) Smith left a surplus and then Zanu PF began to loot, president Robert Mugabe never added any value to our lives, we were all devalued,” said Tsvangirai.

Signalling out his days as the former secretary-general of the Zimbabwe Congress of Trade Unions (ZCTU), when, he claimed that two million Zimbabweans were employed, Tsvangirai said under Mugabe’s rule only 300 000 are formally employed and the figures are going down as industries and companies close.

“Mugabe removed dignity from Zimbabweans, people are now tomato vendors, the culture of liberation is destruction,” said Tsvangirai.

Turning to the internal strife in the MDC, Tsvangirai said some of his erstwhile colleagues thought the MDC was “a party when it is in fact a struggle”.

“This is not a party, this is a struggle. There were some who thought that this was a sprint but it is a marathon; until the struggle goal is achieved, we are not giving up. The MDC is the only agent of change in Zimbabwe,” said Tsvangirai.

Amid internal squabbles in his party, the former prime minister claimed that Mugabe has set up a taskforce to destroy the MDC instead of focussing on the economy which is teetering on the brink of collapse.

It is high time we as Africans start to evaluate sitting presidents. The only evaluation at present is elections, which however are manipulated by the same candidate to be evaluated. If we set targets like raising GDP,unemployment reduction, hunger eradication, disease eradication and safe sanitation.Once we become conscious and make our leaders accountable, it makes them servants of the people, not semi-gods.When we talk about responsibility, knowledgeable people remember former education minister Edmund Garwe. His child leaked national junior examinations. He hade few word.He apologised and resigned with emmedeate effect. What a man we had, may his soul rest in peace!!!
Ian Smith left Rhodesia WITH SURPLUS RESERVES.Mugabe was advised to keep the Agriculture minister-Dennis Norman. That was because the economy was afro based and needed continueity. The reserve bank governor continued , with Moyana as an apprentice. That was a marvellous country, envied by even South Africa.Mugabe soon got mad.Started to disregard all the laid down economic development structures put by Smith .Looting started, and continued, uncontrolled, politicised. All crumbled. We really nee to work together , to make sure that we go back to our glory days. Some of us are very optimistic, maybe I love Zimbabwe too much. But I believe if leaders set goals , and accept to be assessed by the same goals they set, then tomorrow is good

Thanks Tino, I love Zimbabwe too ,unfortunately we are leaderless. Both these are leading a pack of hyenas devouring anything in their path.

‘Mugabe has no clue’ … so what! Nothing will change. The masses aren’t going to mobilise in their hundreds of thousands and MDC cannot ‘change’ be it by mobilising the masses or through the ballot box where they will be thwarted everytime through crookery.

Mugabe has no clue? I think not he knows exactly what he and the other kleptocrats are doing, robbing the country blind, creating a small elite that will always rule over the poor. Keeping the population poor to stifle opposition. Mugabe and almost every other African leader – They are all the same.

300 000 formally employed? when the civil service has 263 000?

A substantial number of the 263000 are ghost workers so the number is probably correct.

Typical Morgan. He is always breaking records. He is the first political leader to have a series of rallies after elections not before. MDC must have a lot of money to sponsor all this.
