via Man jailed 22 yrs for robbing Mugabes 06/10/2014
AN UNEMPLOYED Bulawayo man was Monday sent to the slammer for cheekily robbing President Robert Mugabe’s Alpha and Omega dairy firm offices in the country’s second largest city.
Nicky Richardson allegedly got away with over $1,000 after robbing a clerk at gun point, using a firearm that had been stolen.
He was jailed for an effective 17 years after five were suspended on condition of good behaviour.
The 42-year-old Richardson of Sauerstown in Bulawayo appeared before Magistrate Trinos Wutawashe.
Prosecutor Robin Mukura told the court that the pair identified themselves as detectives from the Criminal Investigations Department’s Scenes of Crime Section and seized a CZ pistol from Tonderai Chingozo’s home in Morningside, before stealing $6000, R12,000 and a Samsung S4 on September 21 this year.
Early last week, Richardson and Mpofu pounced on the Alpha and Omega premises and approached the administrator, Angeline Hamadziripi, pretending to be customers.
The two men proceeded to take $380 and two mobile phones from her handbag, before using a get-away car after scaling a precast wall.
A report was made to the police and investigations were instituted into the matter.
In mitigation, Richardson said he wanted to raise money to assist his aunt who is suffering from cancer and is due for an operation.
COMMENTS
Look how efficient our dishonorable police force can be…and what a massive sentence (just because Mugarbage is on the receiving end). And yet they can’t solve and prosecute even one murder of opposition people…stinks doesn’t it. And it makes them look very foolish for their partisanship!
He was only doing what robber mugarbage commander-in-thief has been doing for 34 years. Which of the two deserves ” criminals acre ??? ” its a no-brainer mate
MY SENTIMENTS EXACTLY, WHAT A SENTENCE FOR A PATHETIC OPPORTUNISTIC THEFT……
