Will the real Biti please stand up?

via Will the real Biti please stand up? – DailyNews Live 9 MARCH 2014

As we long predicted, the brouhaha within the MDC over the ill-advised push by the party’s deputy treasurer-general, Elton Mangoma, to oust Morgan Tsvangirai from the leadership of the movement was always going to end badly.

Mangoma has now been suspended, amid indications that Tsvangirai’s supporters are baying for the expulsion of the affable businessman from the party altogether.

At the same time, party secretary-general, Tendai Biti, has said that the decision to suspend Mangoma is null and void, as it is allegedly in breach of the MDC’s constitution — which in effect puts in doubt the famed lawyer’s own position in the beleaguered party.

In the meantime, President Robert Mugabe and his Zanu PF party are literally weeping more than the bereaved, falling over themselves as they seek to portray the MDC as an undemocratic and violent party — managing to say all this without any sense of irony or shame for a regime notorious for gross corruption, political thuggery and murders.

In this light, it has also come as no big surprise that the ZBC is salivating at the MDC’s internal strife, and for once, is giving Biti acres of precious prime broadcasting time that is normally reserved for lickspittle boot-licking of Mugabe and other Zanu PF heavies.

One of the pieces that ZTV has been running with, ad nauseum, over the weekend is Biti’s perplexing pronouncement at Thursday’s SAPES discussion in Harare where he seemingly conceded defeat to Zanu PF in last year’s disputed elections — saying the ruling party had a message that resonated with Zimbabweans while the MDC failed to connect with the majority.

This is shocking to say the least, seeing that this is coming from a man who, together with his other senior party colleagues, tried to move mountains last year, in their desperate bid to convince the world that Mugabe and Zanu PF had once again cheated in the elections.

The question that Biti must now answer, if his latest sentiments are indeed genuine and not merely informed by emotive factional politics within his party, is, why he and his colleagues misled Zimbabweans into thinking that Zanu PF stole last year’s elections?

Which is which Honourable Biti? Did Zanu PF cheat in that plebiscite or not?

If not, why did you allege then that they did?

What the nation remembers vividly is an angry Biti charging after the elections that this was the biggest electoral fraud he had witnessed.

Does Biti think Zimbabweans are fools with short memories?

What has really gone wrong with Biti?

What has changed between the period soon after elections and now when he says Zanu PF won fairly?

Biti even coined interesting pieces under the Wananchi title, telling the world that Zanu PF had stolen elections.

This is why we are saying let the real Biti now please stand up for his own sake and the MDC’s!

What he is saying now is the truth. Soon after elections was just denial. All MDC will know this. Even Morgan, said the election was a farce soon after promising the world that He and Robert had agreed that loser will honour reult and go peacefully..on eve of election. Why do MDC cadres/followers choose to ignore such clear messages??

There is no more substance in the MDC, that is the conclusion I made for myself after hearing Morgan’s comment.

The editor is missing the point. It is possible to have a message that resonates with the electorate and still cheat in elections.

For example, people do support land redistribution and indigenisation but loathe the way Zanu P.F. implements these projects. Is that so difficult to understand?

Biti tasted how nice it is to be on the gravy train during the GNU and now wants to sneak back by destroying his party.Remember , he now has a law firm and who are his clients. One Gideon Gono is obviously feeding Biti’s family these days as one of his super rich clients. He is a chancer, the true revolutionaries will now come out.

Zimbabweans will have to redeem themselves, nothing will come out of political parties filled with greedy and ambitious individuals.

did he actually say zanu won fairly or is he suggesting part of zanu rigging was aided and abetted by mdc-t officials, perhaps those that are using zanu tactics to purge their party!!?

Well, Zimbabweans can be stupid. They are again following personalities rather than principles. It is not necessary to choose either Biti or Tsvangirai – or any of their views. The facts are:

    (1) Zanu PF cheated.
    (2) At the same time, MDC were incompetent and had spent five years eating greedily from the same plate as ZPF.
    (3) We need a new party.

So, Biti, go and join Zanu. Tsvangirai, go and cry in a corner and beat up the few people left in your party. Meanwhile the rest of us must re-organize.

I agree with the comments made by Ruramai & Mike Nyathi. Just because Biti admits they were ill-prepared doesn’t make him a traitor or turncoat or all the other nasty descriptions but rather gives me encouragement that here we have a leader who is wiling to accept that he is fallible which is most unusual in our society where it is always someone else’s fault when things go wrong.

I am shocked to hear Biti saying that ZANU PF won the elections because they sold good policies yet he is the vary same person who came out on TV in Mt Pleasant witnessing first hand the rigging of elections.

Biti is a big loser who is bitter at Tsvangirai’s popularity. The MDC should hold their elective congress soon so as to get rid of this liability called Biti. What is it that Zanu pf offered the electorate?

Biti often quotes Chiendambuya and Dotito as far away places where there are stone age people who may not understand the goings on in Zimbabwe. I am not sure its for people from these areas to say but what I know is that this technology and civilisation has spread quite far. Youngsters in Chiendambuya are also on facebook. Could it be that the man has no proper roots in Zimbabwe. I say so because one time he confessed that all along he thought Bhoki ingombe until he was advised na Mwonzvora kuti Bhoki imbwa sorry mface takasvinuravo kuno. We are the once who worked in closed factories of Bulawayo so when MDC talk of jobs we understand

Its crystal clear zanu can not win a free and fair election ,when you go on an election campaign and tell the electorate you will go back to war if you lose it all shows you are not popular, seek help from the military ,stick with the same register general for 50 years ,deny people to register ,threaten people with evection if they vote wrongly ,help 2 million to vote while they are being watched ,its evil and foolish as for Tendai Biti one thing he has got to asses is on which and whose side is the electorate ,I was a bit concerned when he offered to represent Gono.

Saddened you should be saddened by Biti’s stupidity but alas you view Biti as a hero you fool. There is nothing heroic about this traitor Biti only idiots will admire this buffoon. He should just join Zanu Pf and leave the MDC BUT i doubt Zanu will recruit him because he wont add value to them.
