MUTARE — Vehicle assemblers want State-owned commuter bus company, the Zimbabwe United Passengers Company (ZUPCO), to procure new buses locally.
ZUPCO chief executive officer, Clifford Muwoni, said in press reports recently that the company had dispatched teams to Brazil and South Africa to scout for new buses.
Zimbabwe has four vehicle assembly firms. These are Deven Engineering, Willowvale Mazda Motors Industries (WMMI), Quest Motor Corporation (QMC) and AVM Africa. Deven, which assembles heavy vehicles, is a unit of WMMI, which makes small vehicles.
