THE Anglican Diocese of Manicaland says it will leave no stone unturned in its bid to empower the girl child, claiming it made significant improvements on its schools for girls in Manicaland province last year.

The diocese runs at least 54 schools in the province.

“We have done several projects, especially in our schools, while we have applied for funding we have drilled about three boreholes at St Catherine’s in Rusape, we have also drilled a borehole which is solar-powered because sometime the council in Rusape will go for almost a week without water,” Samutereko said

“Some are full boarders, others are day scholars. We offer a balanced curriculum which takes cognisance of the requirements of the dynamic world that we are living in.

“We also did a borehole at St James Zongoro in Manicaland province but as a church our Bishop Eric Ruwona is very serious about improving the welfare of our education system in the country.”

The diocesan flagship schools are St Augustine’s High School in Penhalonga and St Faith High School in Rusape.

The diocese a few years back built elite St Catherine’s Girls Private College in Rusape.
