Source: Mutare man sexually abuses 16-year-old mentally-challenged girl -Newsday Zimbabwe
HARARE, Jul 13 (NewsDay Live) -The National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) has expressed grave concern over the increase in rape cases involving minors, with a 54-year-old Mutare recently sentenced to 15 years in prison for raping her 16-year-old mentally challenged neighbour twice in January this year.
Prosecutors said the first attack occurred as the victim was walking home along a footpath when she met the offender, who dragged her into a nearby bush and raped her.
The offender attacked her again a few days later while she was on her way to the field. The matter only came to light when the victim spilled the beans to her mother after being questioned about her unusual behaviour.
The NPAZ warned that the rule of law would descend heavily on perpetrators of sexual violence.
