MODERN office complexes and new commercial developments are becoming a defining feature of Bindura, as the province experiences an unprecedented infrastructure boom driven by private sector investment and Government support.
The wave of development is transforming Bindura into a competitive investment destination and positioning it as one of Zimbabwe’s fastest-growing urban centres.
Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Christopher Magomo, who toured the central business district, attributed the surge in construction activity to policies introduced by President Mnangagwa’s administration to improve the ease of doing business.
“The first thing that I have to do is to thank His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, for creating an environment of ease of doing business countrywide,” said Minister Magomo.
“We are seeing infrastructure development of modern buildings across the whole country and Bindura has not been left behind as private players come on board to develop modern infrastructure.”
The minister said the new developments were not only modernising the province, but also enhancing its competitiveness with other regions.
“The infrastructure that is being developed is uplifting our province so that we become competitive with other provinces. We are happy that this capital development contributes towards our provincial Gross Domestic Product and it is a milestone for us.”
Bindura, traditionally known for mining and agriculture, is increasingly attracting investments in retail, hospitality, housing and commercial property development.
Minister Magomo expressed satisfaction that many of the investors behind the projects are indigenous entrepreneurs from Mashonaland Central who are reinvesting in their home province.
“We are encouraged by the fact that people from Mashonaland Central Province are building their own infrastructure in their province.”
He said Government interventions, such as reducing taxes, lowering licence fees, and cutting bureaucratic procedures, had encouraged greater private sector participation in development.
The construction boom is expected to create employment opportunities, stimulate local industries, and improve service delivery.
