Now that you have started the action, expect action from the people of Zimbabwe

 

The release of your wishy washy memorandum to cabinet proves beyond doubt that you are bent on fraudulently extending President Mnangagwa and Parliament’s term of office by two years after the expiry of the constitutional five years after the 2023 elections. Extending a term of office for elected officials without going to a referendum is a breach of the people of Zimbabwe’s right to choose leaders of their choice in periods stipulated by the constitution. The Admittedly, no Constitution is written in concrete and should be amended as necessary, but any amendment that requires elected officials to stay longer than the term they were elected for without going through a referendum is theft and should be stopped.

 

We need a referendum to be able to extend the stay of elected officials in public office. No referendum, you are inviting trouble, so your Gazette or whatever instrument you will produce MUST indicate that there will be a referendum to reach a position on these proposed amendments.
