Zanu PF First Secretary, President Mnangagwa, has commended ongoing party programmes being undertaken by various structures meant to strengthen and modernise the revolutionary party.

The President said this today in his keynote address at the 381st Ordinary Session of the Politburo that was held at the Party’s head office in Harare.

“I wish to commend the ongoing programmes, workshops and meetings spearheaded by the National Chairman, the Secretary General and other departmental secretaries to enhance the efficiency and modernisation of the party. This will undoubtedly strengthen party structures and guarantee the responsiveness of the party to the aspirations of our membership and the people of our beloved motherland, Zimbabwe, as a whole,” said President Mnangagwa.

“Furthermore, these efforts should see us consolidating internal coordination and capacitating provincial, district, branch and cell/village structures in line with our Constitution.”

He reminded members about the supremacy of the party over the Government.

“Let us equally safeguard the fundamental principle of party supremacy in relation to government. In this regard, the resuscitation of meetings of Standing Committees of the Central Committee in adherence to Article Seven, Section 57 of the party Constitution is a welcome development. Well done,” he said.

“Going forward, the 11 chairpersons of the Standing Committees must ensure that their respective committees meet prior to every Ordinary Session of the Central Committee. All committees must discharge their functions in accordance with the provisions of Section 43 of the party Constitution.”
