HARARE – Wholesaler Mahomed Mussa (MM) has described as “malicious and a
hoax” statements that it had emptied its retail shelves in Harare,
officials said yesterday.
MM Wholesalers is one of the leading wholesale suppliers of a wide range
of products located in Harare. This comes on the back of a deepening
foreign currency shortage and falling rates of the bond note or electronic
transfers, which have had a knock-on effect on the prices of basic
commodities.
“MM wishes to advise the transacting public and nation at large that it
has noted with… disdain the… photo-shopped images being circulated by
some mischievous elements on social media are untrue..,” a management
representative said.
“MM is a law-abiding entity that strives to play its part in the growth of
Zimbabwe and has never shied away from conducting business even in the
most adverse of environments,” they said, adding “it was, therefore,
prudent that we reassure the nation, government and all our valued
stakeholders that we remain open for business…”
However, MM conceded that “in view of the forex challenges being
experienced in the country, some suppliers have been erratic with
deliveries and taking too long to deliver on orders, while some have come
in smaller quantities…”
