ZIMBABWE’s 14 secondary schools are amongst Africa’s top 100, according to a survey carried by a South African publication, Buzzsouthafrica.

According to the survey, South Africa has got 30 schools with Grey College topping the whole list.

Researchers however admitted that coming up with the list from the entire African continent was difficult as “different countries follow different guidelines and curriculums as well as well as completely different regional assessments.”

The survey focused on schools that have historical prominence at national and regional level.

Grey College, South Africa, Rift Valley academy, Kenya, King Edward V11, South Africa, Hilton College, South Africa and St George’s College, Zimbabwe are ranked in the top five respectively.

Other schools from the country that made it into the top are Prince Edward at number six, Gateway High School at 20, St James High School, 25, Hamilton High school at 42, Arundel School at 48, Harare International School, 54, Waddilove School at 59 and Christian Brothers College, Bulawayo, 63.

Mount Pleasant school is ranked at 65, Chisipite Senior school, 67 and Kutama College, where President Robert Mugabe attended, at 69. Townsend and Allan Wilson High schools are at 98 and 100 respectively.

Zimbabwe has got one of the highest literacy rates in the whole of Africa.
