Corruption

The President is aware of officials demanding under-the-table payments for facilitating investor meetings with him. Despite knowing who these people are, Mugabe has done nothing but make hollow threats.

The first lady – the President’s proxy – sang like a noisy lark from October to December about bigwigs who allegedly hog the country’s resources. Nothing ever happened to the culprits. In fact, a month after being appointed Zanu (PF) women’s league chair, Grace Mugabe went on to grab more land in Mazowe, where she wants the occupants kicked out in order to make way for her pet giraffes.

Zimbabwe is currently ranked 156th out of 175 on Transparency International’s Global Corruption Perception Index. And the punch line – the Zimbabwe Anti Corruption Commission boss has been convicted of fraud and sent to jail for 10 years. And he is a former assistant senior commissioner of police!
