Krishna Satyanarayan Gandlur (33) and Ravi Krishnan (40) were arrested for allegedly raping a 28-year-old Zimbabwean woman during a tour of the India cricket team to Harare on June 16.

The two are on $1 000 bail granted by the High Court.

Makwande and defence lawyer Jonathan Samukange grilled the State for failing to come up with a trial date.

Samukange told the court that High Court judge Justice Lavendar Makoni had ruled that if the State failed to provide a trial date by September 20, which was yesterday, the suspects should be removed from remand.

But, prosecutor Sebastian Mutizirwa said they were now waiting for DNA results of the suspects’ blood samples sent to South Africa.
Makwande then warned the State not to further waste the court’s time.

According to the State, Andlur and Krishnan allegedly took turns to sexually abuse the 28-year-old Zimbabwean woman at a city hotel after spiking her drink.

The complainant then narrated her ordeal to the hotel manager, leading to the suspects’ arrest.
