Do you remember the cinemas, Kine One, Two, Three, Four, Strathaven and Rainbow Parklane? In a country where it seems only a miracle can save us, it is no surprise that after the Kines floundered, the cinemas are now places of worship.
Some might recall the drive-in cinemas in different towns – Bulawayo, Gweru, Kadoma, Mutare, all of which are no more, thanks to the economic meltdown created by Zanu (PF). Perhaps it is fitting – sort of – that the very people who killed the entertainment industry have, of late, been providing us with some popcorn-munching, edge-of-the-seat drama.
