HARARE – Government has awarded its ministries an extra $468 million, with the Agriculture ministry getting the biggest chunk of $236 635 000.

In a general notice 250 of 2014 published in the Government Gazette yesterday, Finance minister Patrick Chinamasa through the Appropriation (Supplementary) Act, adjusted the consolidated revenue fund with $468 million.

“The consolidated revenue fund is hereby charged with sums of money as may be required for the service of Zimbabwe during the year ending on the 31st December, 2014, not exceeding in aggregate the sum of $467 915 000,” reads part of the Appropriation Act.

“Subject to section 19 (1) of the Public  Finance Management Act (Chapter 22:19) (No. 11 of 2009, the moneys appropriated by section  2 shall be applied to the services detailed in the Schedule and more particularly specified in the Supplementary Estimates of Expenditure for the year ending on the 31st December, 2014, submitted to and passed by the National Assembly.”

According to the notice, the Finance ministry is the second biggest benefactor with $118 959 000, followed by Home Affairs at $40 million.

Next is the office of the President and Cabinet with $18 million, Defence $15 million, Industry and Commerce $11 911 000 and Primary and Secondary Education with $10 million.

The Sports, Arts and Culture ministry came in at $9 million, while the Parliament of Zimbabwe was last on the list with $8 410 000.

Two weeks ago, Chinamasa announced a $933 million supplementary national budget to stimulate economic recovery.
