FIRST Lady Grace Mugabe on Wednesday dressed down Zanu PF Bulawayo chairman Callistus Ndlovu for misrepresenting facts on the state of the party in the province.

Delivering the welcome remarks during the Bulawayo stop of Grace’s Meet the People Tour, Ndlovu claimed that, unlike other provinces where factionalism was rife, Bulawayo was united with party cadres working amicably.

“Mama, factionalism is not a problem here in Bulawayo,” Ndlovu told the gathering at Amazulu Stadium.

“Of course people are not like water which flows one way. We sometimes disagree from time to time but Zanu PF is our totem. We are working together.”

But an unimpressed Grace branded Ndlovu a liar.

“Let’s not lie, please,” she said.

“There is no unity of purpose. There are some people who are still calling themselves Zapu members here. The imposition of leaders here has led to dissenting voices.”

The First Lady said the mere fact that five top former Zapu members from Matabeleland are vying for the vice-presidency at the December elective congress was also a clear testimony that there is disunity in the region.

And as long as divisions continue, Zanu PF would never win elections in the city, she added

“You do not have respect for each other.

“You are busy spying on each other instead of sitting together and coming up with a common position on who is suitable for the post and not to rush to newspapers to sell yourselves.”

She also claimed that one of the vice presidential aspirants is ailing and not suitable for the post.

“Uri murwere apo urikuisa zita rako forward. Unoita kunge dhongi. Pfungwa dzako hadzina kukwana. Tanga wazviongorora. Uchakambaira uchienda ikoko,” said Grace without naming the ailing aspirant.

Leaders from Matabeleland who are vying for the VP post should unite the people of Bulawayo first before dreaming running for the VP post, she added.

Some of the ex-Zipra officials eyeing the VP post include Home Affairs minister Kembo Mohadi, former ambassador to South Africa Phekezela Mphoko, former Zipra stalwart Ambrose Mutinhiri and Senator Naison Khutshwekhaya Ndlovu.

The first lady also banned the selling of party regalia by unscrupulous party cadres whom she said were using her husband’s name to make thousands of dollars when the regalia was supposed to be distributed for free.

“There is a senior member of the party and his wife who recently went to China to print party regalia for resell. What these people are doing is illegal.

“Please if you happened to have bought any regalia from this couple go and demand your money back. Even those caps and T-shirts with the President’s signature are not supposed to be sold,” she said.

Several government ministers attended the rally – among them Transport Minister Obert Mpofu, Information Minister Jonathan Moyo as well as Water Resources Minister Saviour Kasukuwere.
