President Robert Mugabe has returned home from New York where he attended the 69th Session of the United Nations General Assembly where he pleaded with the West to remove  what he termed “evil sanctions” on Zimbabwe.

He was welcomed by Vice President Joice Mujuru, service chiefs, Zanu PF leadership, senior government officials and hundreds of Zanu PF supporters from Harare Metropolitan province.

Addressing hundreds the party supporters gathered at the Harare International Airport, President Mugabe emphasized the need for discipline amongst the party’s senior members ahead of the party’s congress to be held in December this year.

President Mugabe said the Zanu PF leadership should close ranks as the party gears for congress.

Mugabe said people must not be self-centred and use the party for self-enrichment.

He said the party leadership will not hesitate to correct those who put the party into disrepute irrespective of their positions of authority.

Mugabe said Zanu PF party members should remain united.

He also said Zimbabwe walks tall among African and developing nations as she speaks her mind unlike other states where former colonisers call the shots.

The President said Zimbabwe has ascertained sovereignty of resources and any investor comes on our terms.

The UN summit was designed to lay the groundwork for a new global treaty to tackle climate change when world leaders meet in Paris in December 2015.
