Freedom MurechuRECENTLY-ELECTED Nkulumane lawmaker Freedom Murechu (Zanu PF) has been sworn in, marking the beginning of
his tenure in the National Assembly.
Murechu won the seat in a December by-election.
The seat fell vacant following the death of then opposition Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) legislator, Desire Moyo, in a car accident last October.
While taking an oath, Murechu pledged to uphold the Constitution of Zimbabwe and to faithfully discharge his duties as a representative of the people of Nkulumane.
In a brief interview after the swearing-in ceremony, Murechu said he was committed to advancing the developmental aspirations of his constituency and ensuring improved service delivery.
“I am honoured to serve the people of Nkulumane,” he said.
“My focus will be on amplifying their concerns in Parliament and working towards tangible social and economic development.”
Murechu added that he would prioritise community engagement to ensure his legislative contributions reflect the needs of the constituency.
