WARD 41 in Harare West on Saturday held its feedback and pre-budget consultative meeting, with residents being urged to pay their council rates to improve the City of Harare’s capacity to deliver services.
In her opening remarks, Ward 41 Councillor Kudzai Kadzombe said the city’s current average revenue collection efficiency stood at 49 percent.
“Some suburbs have performed better than others,” she said.
Councillor Kadzombe said Good Hope had the highest collection efficiency in the ward at 65,8 percent, followed by Emerald Hill at 62,9 percent, Bluffhill at 61,2 percent and Tynwald at 57,9 percent.
Adylinn recorded 48 percent, Ashbrittle 49 percent, Avonlea 47,4 percent and Marlborough 44,7 percent.
“I appeal to every resident to pay your council rates. When residents pay, council has greater capacity to provide services,” she said.
She said improved revenue collection was critical to enabling council to meet its obligations and improve service delivery across the ward.
