A 30-year-old Harare man has been arrested on allegations of strangling his wife to death with a shoelace following a domestic dispute.
The incident occurred at Maruwa Farm Compound in Hatfield following an altercation over infidelity.
Zimbabwe Republic Police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident.
“Police in Hatfield arrested Stephen Sarurai aged 30 in connection with a case of murder which occurred at a house at Maruwa Farm Compound, Hatfield, on September 17, 2026.
“The suspect allegedly strangled his wife, Zvikomborero Tari, aged 26, to death with a shoelace following a domestic dispute emanating from allegations of infidelity,” he said.
The incident comes after another 32-year-old pregnant woman was murdered by her husband in Shamva after being accused of having an affair with another man in that area.
The suspect, Leonard Padzikamambo Mubaira (41), an artisanal miner at Bester Mine, Shamva, has since gone into hiding after committing the offence on Sunday morning.
The victim was identified as Everjoy Amos (32) and her body was discovered with severe head injuries.
A 5-pound hammer (about 2,7 kgs), which is suspected to have been used for the commission of the crime, was recovered beside the bed.
Police are also investigating a case in which a woman and her two children — aged five and seven months — where killed by an unknown suspect at a farm in Darwendale.
After committing the offence, the suspect allegedly dragged the bodies into a hut, locked it from the outside and set the hut on fire.
The incident occurred at Shirleigh Farm, Darwendale, on September 13, 2026.
The victims have been identified as Abigail Mwale (26), Johanne Maiswa (5) and Jayden Mwale (7 months).
Meanwhile, police in Harare are investigating a suspected case of murder in which the body of an unidentified man was recently found along an unnamed dust road which passes through Newcastle Group of Schools, Dzivarasekwa.
The victim was wearing a grey jacket, grey trousers, a white and navy-blue striped T-shirt, a sun hat and black and white sneakers.
He had a deep cut above the right eye, scratch marks on both hands, a fractured right leg and swelling on the back. The body is at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals mortuary awaiting identification.
