BEITBRIDGE – Six ZIMRA workers have appeared in court on allegations that they stole 147 bottles of BronCleer cough syrup from the Beitbridge Freight Terminal Warehouse.

The case is before Magistrate Takudzwa Gwazemba.

The accused are Linnet Chimhete (32), a State Warehouse Revenue Officer, Eunice Langalanga (27), Tinotenda Maphosa (30), Simbarashe Chekure (42), Paul Ngirishi (40) and Thomas Musvaire (42).
It is the State case that on September 16, 2026 at around 8am at the Freight Terminal Warehouse, Beitbridge Border Post, Chimhete who had access to the warehouse allegedly connived with Chekure who was in custody of fire extinguisher entrance keys.

At 8.45am the same day, detectives received information that Chimhete was in possession of unregistered medicines near the Roman Catholic Church. They reacted and found the vehicle parked near the church with Chimhete, Langalanga and Musvaire inside.

A search was conducted and a white 50kg sack containing 147 x 100ml bottles of Broncleer was recovered from the back passenger seat, leading to the arrest of the three. The other accused were later arrested and taken to CID Beitbridge.

The vehicle and the BronCleer are being held as exhibits. The goods were recovered.
