Hope beyond SADC: Chamisa

via Hope beyond SADC: Chamisa | The Zimbabwean by Brenna Matendere Munyati

The next elections must be conducted electronically and in line with emerging universal electoral trends to avoid rigging and ballot stuffing, says Nelson Chamisa, the MDC-T organising secretary.

He told The Zimbabwean after a series of meetings with his party structures at the weekend that more information was now available on how the election outcome was stolen.

“The meetings we are conducting countrywide are strengthening our case on the election rigging. The information is shocking,” he said. “After the exercise, the position of the party is that Zimbabwe must have another round of elections on a digital platform.”

He said at the moment the Southern African Development Community had a limited mandate to determine Zimbabwe’s future beyond the benchmarks the country’s citizens set for themselves. A satisfactory and lasting solution to the national crisis, he believes, rests with the people of Zimbabwe as they define their own destiny.

Chamisa said his party’s hope for resolving the disputed election outcome was still alive despite SADC’s findings and declarations.

At the recent SADC Heads of State summit held in Malawi, the regional body disregarded alternative viewpoints and observations from civil society, the opposition and the West on the credibility and legitimacy of the July 31 election and endorsed the disputed outcome.

“What is interesting is that SADC knows the elections in Zimbabwe were
rigged,” said Chamisa. “Against that background, what we are saying is that SADC is not Zimbabwe.”

Where is the proof Chamisa? Just give us the voters the proof. Saying the elections were stolen is not the proof, its just like Barack saying Assad gussed his people but no proof LOL. Putin wants proof, the world wants proof. everyone wants proof.

Proof is what is needed Chamisa. Talking and shouting to convince people is a non-starter.

Insults only MDC-T supporters. No brains at all. Qiniso does not say elections were not stolen. Why dont those with that evidence publish it before talking about it in the press? While I honestly believe that the results dont reflect the true free will of the people I believe that Chamisa caused the pain that those who wanted change are feeling now. In one constitency in Matebelea

In some constituencies candidates were imposed even if those people were very unpopular. MDC-T did not contest in 26 wards “freely”. No reforms stipulated by SADC had been implemented concerning the leveling of the playing field. The voters role was not given to contestants and when some people sa

When the voters role was made public it was obvious that elections could never be free, fair and credible but Chamisa told a rally that Zanupf would never rig. When the party lost he cried “Rigging reeeging riiiggiiing. As long as you MDC-T supporters refuse to see light you will be for ever shocked. Chamisa and his gang are not honest. You can insult fellow Zimbabweans with all your vocabulory of insults but with Chamisa leading you forget about ever getting any victory against Zanupf.

What proof do you want. Go around ZImbabwe and ask people who they voted for, they will tell you that their choice is the MDC. Bob got some miracle votes which nobody knows where they came from. You never cease to amze me ma C10 ana Nansi lendoda. There are videos of unregistered polling stations, go to the 1st tv website. The eloctronic voters roll was not produced and there were fraudulent voter slips. Ask yourself why there were no UV ink detection systems this time. Its all clear in black and white that ZANU rigged. even an uneducated homosapien like you Nansi Lendoda should pick this up.

Its true that proof is needed but the MDC-T should take blame for the outcome of the 2013 elections.First and foremost the party blundered by going into the election when they fully knew that there were some outstanding issues that were supposed to be finalised before the elections could take place. Here I am talking of things such as security reforms, media reforms etc.Why would anyone get into an election without the voters roll. Its like buying an aeroplane from China today and be told to fly to Zimbabwe while the aircraft’s operating and maintenance manual would follow at a later date. That is suiciadal to say but the least. Its the same like getting into an exam room without a candidate number. At THAT PARTICULAR POINT the MDC-T was supossed to have withdrawn from the race and things would have been different now.The other blunder that Chamisa and his team made was the way in which they came up with the guide lines for the primary elections. It was not democratic at all.The party protected the so called big guys by not subjecting them to primaries but confirmations. The whole process was marred by gross irregulaties worse than that of the general elections.Chamisa and company went further and imposed candidates for instace Simba Makoni. This, the voting population was watching hence they were punished by the electorate.NIKUV could have played a role in the election but the MDC-T contributed as well in the outcome of the 2013 plebiscite by failing to plan and strategise.Thank you.

Changamire Leo, you post sounds like its coming from someone in the diaspora who doesn’t understand the situation on the ground. The people wanted elections, we were confident mugabe would go. The MDC si not to blame. If tsvangirai had refused the polls the people would have blamed him for selfishness. Remember we forced them to join the GNU because we thought they were being selfish. The truth of the matter is opposition parties will never win in africa until God takes away the so called liberation war heroes who think they own africa. Change will come, time will tell. Empires rise and fall so will zanu pf

Mr Freedom, am actually in Zimbabwe.I could have gone beyond the borders a long time ago. I had hope that the MDC-T will bring salvation to the people of Zimbabwe.Until and unless we as a people start to accept our errors then it will be difficult to dislodge Zanu Pf from ruling Zimbabwe. Remember the statement that was made by Hon Chamisa that there are no sacred cows in as far as primary elections were concerned, only to have that position changed by other guys in the party.Lets look also at the case of Ezra Sibanda and Eric Knight. These guys never experienced that what the ordinary Zimbabweans experieced during the hyper inflationary environment era. They were in the comfort zone of the UK.You mean to tell me that there was no one in the MDC-T in Mbare and Vungu who could have contested as MDC-T candidates?I think the party was supossed to have drawn their candidates from the cadres who were on the ground that is in Zimbabwe. It is these guys who were going to make a difference as they knew whom to deal with as they had the territorial advantage over these guys who were in the comfort zone.
