WAR veterans’ leader, Jabulani Sibanda, has issued a thinly veiled attack at President Robert Mugabe’s Look-East policy saying Zimbabweans should learn to resolve their own problems.
Sibanda said Zimbabweans should also not look in any direction to solve their problems but should instead look to God for divine intervention.
The war veterans’ leader made the remarks while delivering a public lecture at the Midlands State University in Gweru on Wednesday.
“Now is not the time to look to the west, east, north or south to solve our problems but we should turn to God and to ourselves and activate our mental faculties to solve our problems,” Sibanda said.
Mugabe’s Zanu PF party has often touted its Look-East policy as the panacea to Zimbabwe’s economic woes.
The southern African country has since 2000 cultivated closer ties with China and other eastern countries after western governments imposed targeted sanctions on Mugabe and his top lieutenants for stealing elections and human rights violations.
Critics however say the Look-East policy has resulted in very small economic gains for Zimbabwe.
Sibanda said the country was under siege from western countries that imposed sanctions after the land reform exercise. The liberation fighters’ boss said people should work hard and at the same time turn to God for economic emancipation.
This is not the first time that Sibanda has urged people to look to God for economic independence. In July this year, while addressing a lecture at Bulawayo Polytechnic, Sibanda said students should be patriotic and look to God for a stable future as Africans.
COMMENTS
Oh so now the murderers must say ‘look to god’.
Sibanda has led a group who have murdered, raped and looted with impunity and now they look to god.
Let’s implement change, respect for the rule law, our constitution and fellow citizens and then we can start looking at rebuilding our nation but so long as these children of the devil prevail we have no hope.
agreed this d1ckhead should go straight to the hague for crimes against his own people as well as any of the white guys and farmers he murdered, why would anyone listen to the rants of this mad man–where’e Ebola when you need it..
well said!! Sibanda and his companions have a special place in hell reserved for them.
Mashoko enyu (its simply wisedom and understanding.
I have always thought that Zanu-Pf and Christianity were totally incompatible
I don’t need advice from a terrorist or any zpf village idiots
Its surprising how institution of higher learning select speakers for public lectures these days. No wonder Grace got a PhD despite not even qualified to enrol. In the past such lectures platforms would be given to scholars and reputable public figures. What benefit would a public convict like Sibanda give. Do students emulate him. I guess principals and vice chancellors of these days a driven by political parties. Shame. Nations look forward and solve their problems. Problem number one is Mugabe and Zanu PF including Sibanda. They need to respect life and people choice of leaders. Allow freedom and total freedom of association. To hell with Zanu PF and Sibanda
He should look under the carpet and in the cupboards for all the corpses and wrongs of the past and face the music. Preferably in hell.
You solve your problems with friends Cde Sibanda…..look what is happening in WESTERN government when attacking their enemies, they go as ALLIES (friends)….Zimbabwe must do the same…..correct it Cde Jabulani Sibanda…..
