A DELEGATION of parliamentarians from Mozambique, led by Speaker of the National Assembly Ms Margarida Adamugy Talapa, is expected in the country today for a four-day official visit.
The Parliament of Zimbabwe confirmed the visit in a statement last week.
“Her Excellency, the Speaker of the National Assembly of Mozambique, Honourable Margarida Adamugy Talapa, will be on an official visit to the Parliament of Zimbabwe, leading a delegation of members and officers of Parliament of Mozambique and are expected at Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport on the 13th of September 2026,” reads part of the statement.
The Mozambican delegation will be received at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport by senior officials from the country’s Parliament, led by Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Ms Tsitsi Gezi, chairperson of the Portfolio Committee of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Mr Webster Shamu, MPs Mr Noah Mangondo and Ms Concillia Chinanzvavana, as well as Mozambique’s Ambassador to Zimbabwe, Mr Carvalho Muaria.
Official business begins tomorrow with a tour of the new Parliament building in Mt Hampden in the morning, followed by a meeting of the Chief Whips and another with the Portfolio Committee of Foreign Affairs and International Trade.
In the afternoon, Ms Talapa, including her delegation, will meet her Zimbabwean counterpart, Advocate Jacob Mudenda.
The meeting will be followed by an exchange of gifts, the signing of a memorandum of understanding, a photoshoot and a press conference.
Advocate Mudenda will then host an official dinner for the Mozambican delegation in the evening.
On Tuesday, the delegation will tour the National Heroes Acre and lay wreaths, followed by a tour of the Museum of African Liberation.
On Wednesday, Ms Talapa will meet with the Mozambican community in Nyabira and also have another meeting with the Mozambican community resident in the country.
The delegation will then return to Mozambique on Thursday.
