via Bulawayo24 NEWS | Mugabe’s Borrowdale Brooke neighbour speaks out 22 June 2014
A Harare man who is expected to appear in court tomorrow after his dogs killed a buck at President Robert Mugabe’s mansion in Borrowdale Brooke last year is proud to be the First Family’s neighbour.
The Standard yesterday managed to track down Pazarangu for an interview in Harare. Pazarangu said he had “no problem with my neighbour”, adding that he was not interested in politics.
“I am not a politician. You don’t find me in Zanu-PF and MDCs because I am not interested in it [politics],” he said.
Pazarangu had a terse “no comment” response when asked whether he had been invited to Bona Mugabe’s wedding to Simba Chikore early this year.
The mega wedding was held at the First’s Family’s residence opposite Pazarangu’s house.
The State alleges that on May 22 and 23 last year, Pazarangu’s dogs strayed into President Mugabe’s residence where they killed a buck. When an officer on duty saw the dogs devouring the animal, they ran away into Pazarangu’s homestead. Officials from the National Parks and Wildlife Management Authority later identified the dogs as the ones they had shot at the previous year.
When he was summoned to appear in court last week, Pazarangu kept it a secret to his family which only knew about the case when it was splashed in newspapers.
“I didn’t want my family to be traumatised. Also, I didn’t want the story to come out because it embarrasses the President,” he said.
Pazarangu said when he moved into Borrowdale Brooke, tyres on his three cars were stolen one night. When he replaced the tyres and parked his cars closer to the house, thieves pounced again and stole the tyres.
“It was at that point that I started keeping the dogs,” said the man born in Pazarangu Street in Mbare.
Patrick Michael was awarded the Member of the order of the British Empire given to an individual for a significant achievement or outstanding service to the community.
COMMENTS
If this is true about Pazarangu’s father being a postmaster and being awarded an MBE, where does that leave the popular argument that blacks could not get top jobs and were regarded as second-class citizens under white rule?
RARE CIRCUMSTANCES FOOL
I TAKE THE LAST WORD ABOVE BACK
Madam there were exceptions as under the Federal Government there was an effort to create a multiracial society. Prior to the formation of the federation some of the worst discrimination took place in what is now Zambia (see John Gunther’s book Inside Africa). The major motivation for many of the nationalist leaders in Zambia Zimbabwe and Malawi was personal and family enrichment. They care less about the masses than did the relatively discriminatory white colonial governments prior to that.
How did he accumulate obscene wealth if he is not a zanoid or criminal ? Wherever there’s money its 90% muck goes the wise adage. Grace was on heat got the dogs to ravish her
That’s really stupid.
Angela Wigmore mistakes were made. Not every person thought they were doing wrong. Not all the wronged thought they were wronged. That ship has sailed. Some of those that left carried on looking after those that worked for them. It was supposed to be about the LAW and the constitution. The current custodians have done worse than the previous custodians have done this because their hearts are filled with corruption and hate. Walk a mile in my shoes, and then judge me. That is what I as a Black person would say. Now it is the white people that are asking that question.
Respect to you Angela.
@Dr Dolittle: ‘Walk a mile in my shoes’ – funny you should say that because it is exactly what my Facebook profile picture says.
Angela cannot seriously plead that black people were/are treated fairly by her people. I am sure my compatriots are not crouched here to whitewash white crimes against black people. Mugabe’s evil does not make theirs acceptable.
I know Michael Pazarangu from Harare Township, now erroneously called Mbare. His father Was the postmaster at the now derelict Mbare Post office. He is neither Zanu nor MDC. The Pazarangu family loved dogs. His father kept 5 big canines as pets and also to guard the post office from intruders. I am convinced Michael keeps them for the same reason.
What the heck is a buck doing in Bobs garden? The SPCA should have investigated that matter.
yep! RGM thinks he owns the nation. Well I have news for him: God himself is the rightful owner of Zimbabwe and every greedy person who has trampled on the heads of the poor in this nation will meet their Judge!
You know I can think of a whole lot of worse crimes committed by govt in Zimbabwe than a neighbours dog eating the Pres’s buck.I could list them but the list is sooooo ugly and I think we all know what they are beginning early 1980’s
The Anger most probably stems from the dog beating him to his dinner.
Does his excellency have a game reserve in his yard as well? Is this legal?
Excellency, what?
Do you even know what that means –
“An outstanding feature or quality”.
Something Mugarbage never had and never will!
As a Malawian he didn’t even fight the
Liberation War, in the trenches!
I thought bobs gates were guarded and closed…
This should have been never a national news items. We have more urgent and important things to focus on Zimbos

how childish can people do they expect Patrick to watch his dog 24/7?
the neighbours did not ask them to keep all the wild animals in their backyard
The dog is there to protect the owners from thieves
The Geriatic is supposed to be a roman catholic and believe in God and to love his neighbour as he loves himself.
Civil Society should speak up for Patrick and his family

‘……thou shalt not covert thy neighbour’s buck….or sent your dogs after it for to kill it….’ catholic or not, something like that must be writen somewhere.
We are told not to covet our neighbour’s wife, nor his ox nor his ass. Particularly not his ass.
all about good neighbourliness OMG OMG
Pity people like Patrick who live next to people like this
everybody needs gud Neighbors Pat is one that I wuld luv to live next to but this Bob guy is a manace. bucks in borrowdale? one Theory here works: his body guards are busy poaching the Blind old fella’s bucks. now that they found dogs poaching their kill they wanna fix the dog owner. nxaa shame on tge bodyguards and their employer too
Of course you love the president, what can you say spineless worm.
Pity the dogs didn’t eat Mugarbage,
although, then again, they probably
have acute revulsion to ‘decaying’ meat…….
A court case over a buck being killed? What about the criminals being brought to justice who poisoned all the elephants with cyanide? Oh I forgot… the President’s buck is more important than Zimbabwe’s national heritage!
