via Politburo calls for decisive action against corruption Friday, 14 February 2014 ZBC
The Zanu PF extraordinary politburo meeting, which was held in the capital on Friday ended in the evening with a strong stand to act decisively and firmly against cases of corruption.
The politburo members agreed that the vice should be investigated thoroughly and the details should be exposed before appropriate action is taken to deal with the perpetrators.
The politburo meeting also discussed the provincial executive elections and specifically those of the Midlands province where the politburo members agreed that the results initially announced by Dr Olivia Muchena should stand.
In that election, Cde Jason Machaya was elected provincial chairman, Tanaka Mageza youth chairman, while Cde Elina Shirichena provincial women’s league chairperson.
The meeting earlier on received reports on the Tokwe Mukorsi situation where the danger is being rectified with engineers working on site 24 hours.
The Minister of State for Masvingo province, Cde Kudakwashe Bhasikiti assured the politburo that work is underway to ensure that the dam wall is secure.
He asked people to remain on high ground.
Local Government, Public Works and National Housing Minister, Dr Ignatius Chombo said government has received great support and cooperation from the UN, which includes tents and medicines.
He, however, said they have no maize and are taking urgent steps to source funds to acquire the maize.
Dr Chombo paid tribute to embassies that have also come forward to help and assured the nation that care will be taken to ensure equitable distribution of the materials gathered.
COMMENTS
Was this a political meeting or a Cabinet meeting? it sounds like there is not much difference between the two.
The lines are blurred very very blurred. I wonder what was so extra-ordinary about this meeting. The issues could well have been discussed in Parliament. Or maybe this is all that they felt the public needs to know and the rest is a secret?
They say cases of corruption should be investigated but did not task anyone with this job. How do we even know an investigation is taking place and who is going to hear the allegations?
When this miserable group of thieves meet and decide to take decisive action it probably means the disappearance of some and all else tucked under the carpet so they can carry on looting our resources at will.
We’re they to act decisively against corruption they would effectively dissolve their government and party. At best we are likely to see some selective action. It will be a bit like musical chairs.
Chombo ndo problem iyeye
Meetings like this shows Zanu is in defensive mode. Tamba bhora.
Smoke and mirrors, there will be little action, otherwise the whole lot of the thieving dogs who sat in the meeting would be in chikurubi. There will no doubt be a couple of small fry fall guys who will take the can and the remainder will go on their merry way. Wake up Zimbabweans, do something about it, if you dont you deserve what you have got and will continue to have for many years. The Arabs did it so can you!
just working out how to protect each other….
They know hw to defend their part nt like Biti and Mangoma who want to Destroy Mdc t
Zindoga please stick to the point there will be plenty of opportunities to push your narrow agenda.
Dont force him/her to say what you want. After or
there is nothing wrong in comparing situations
The gathering was that of the key architects of corruption. I am sure they met to find ways of making sure as little information as possible finds its way into the public domain. If thorough investigations were to happen then they would all go to jail including their nonagenarian leader, Bob.
Bob was given a dossier of corrupt officials by Mbeki, what’s there to investigate . Arrest the culprits .
They will take a dilly-dally investigation which will never yield any substantive evidence.
A party which is committing all these putrid scandal will never shoot itself, sorry Zimbabweans, the best thing is to take the arms, less than that is slavery on our land by elitists.
Elitists, -this got me thinking. the term normally refers to an intellectually superior individual. This would be a compliment if this is mentioned in reference to Zanu.
When Zanu won the 1980 elections, they had to award those who helped int liberation struggle with posts in government, idiots or not. Unfortunately we had more Idiots.
If you have an educated debate with an idiot, he or she will revert to violence to win a case. The evidence is there for everyone to see.
haha, cant be true!
