via MDC threatens ‘war’ against Mugabe | News24 2014-04-14
Zimbabwean opposition Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) party has reportedly threatened to take to the streets to dislodge President Robert Mugabe’s regime.
Addressing a rally in Harare, firebrand MDC politician Job Sikhala who recently returned to the party that gave him national political status, urged party supporters to brace for “war” against Mugabe’s regime, said a New Zimbabwe.com report.
Sikhala accused Mugabe of running the country down and reducing the entire nation into “virtual paupers”.
Sikhala said Zimbabwe’s current slide to disaster was so fast that if left unchecked the MDC would lose its entire support base through hunger.
Zimbabwe’s economic environment continues to look dire with reports indicating that thousands are losing their jobs as companies continue to shut down citing viability problems.
Supermarket economy
Sikhala said people of Zimbabwe could not continue suffering under Mugabe’s leadership until 2018 when the country’s next elections would be held.
Speaking at the same rally, MDC national organising secretary Nelson Chamisa said Zimbabwe had been reduced to a supermarket economy.
Chamisa said Mugabe won state power in last year’s elections but was failing to translate that into economic prosperity.
Chamisa said the demonstrations would be peaceful as “no one will fire a gun”. He said people’s aspirations and their power would liberate Zimbabwe, according to The Zimbabwe Mail report.
Earlier this month, Zanu-PF’s spokesperson Rugare Gumbo accused MDC leader Morgan Tsvangirai of inciting rebellion against Mugabe after the former prime minister said Zimbabwe could not continue to be held captive by one man (Mugabe).
Gumbo said the opposition leader’s call for mass action was “dangerous” and called for his arrest.
COMMENTS
Gumbo, you might say whatever u think is right for u devils to stay in power but one day your time will up. For how long do u think people of Zimbabwe should keep on suffering in the hands of u idiots. Even during Smith regime they didn’t suffer the way we r now. My self I’m ready to go back to war to fight u witches.

A step in the right direction Job. Lets start now
Time for Bennett, Cross and Kay to form a party – common sense and integrity – do , not just say
I didn’t know that in Zanu PF they readthe cconstitution upside down. It’s a right to demonstrate, isn’t it nhai va Gumbo.
Ngazvipere zvekuzviita vazivi vezvose, and bullying others.
Sikhala is on the right path, he is supposed to be secretary general not this Gono stooge Biti
Gumbo must just shut up. he won’t say the MDC are a joke when he sees a few million people marching. Zvakwana. maybe, just maybe the opposition are waking up!
Long over due, Morgan should have put hundreds of thousands on the streets on a number of occasions but failed to make the call. If he had had the balls to do it in 2008 after the election fiasco he might well be Preident now. Maybe its worth a try, will be interesting to see which way the Security Forces jump when confronted by tens of thousand of their relatives. Bring it on and soon!!!
come on, nelson, lets see you lead the march..
what are we waiting for Zimbabwe lets hit the streets and get our country back
Lets go I have my walking shoes on, imagine 51% of Zimbabwe amassed and walking peacefully singing songs and not a weapon in sight, the new leaders Sikala, Makoni, Biti, Cross, Musewe and all in front leading us and we need televised live coverage for the world to see.
armed forces will stand down we have to many for them to deal with and if they dont we arrset them and handcuff then to the lamp posts in town until they sumit.
NBS my view is that this will only happen when there are NO more jobs and the people are starving,we still have some way to go.
Fraid you maybe right. I am trusting the Lord to break this spirit of fear, inertia and apathy. What really riles me is that our people are mostly peace loving and ZPF have taken cruel advantage of that. one day it will backfire!
ordinary ppl with no weapons , why the hell do you think someone must be arrested. Infact look at your age MR GUMBO !!!
let us seek the KINGDOM OF GOD and stop worrying about SATAN and his GOVERNMENTS.JEHOVAH’s KINGDOM is coming to take care of SATAN’s “kingdoms”
This call certainly is an encouraging sign.
Maybe, just maybe, there is life in the Zimbo, still!
Will be interesting to see how many of us find excuses come the big day, though.
An action like this demands that we all take part in order to be effective.
