A 22-year old man appeared before the Mbare Magistrate court yesterday facing attempted robbery charges, theft and malicious damage to property.

Kudzai Andrea appeared before Magistrate Nyasha Vhitorini who granted him bail. The matter was remanded to February 25.

In his defense, Andrea blamed drunkenness.

Allegations are that on February 2 and at NF Willowvale garden flats, Highfield, the complainant Prince Daniel parked his Toyota Hilux at the main gate.

Andrea arrived moments later and tried to start the vehicle but failed. He broke the gear lever in the process.

As he kept trying to start the vehicle, Daniel was awakened by the noise and went to investigate. Andrea had also stolen a cellphone and laptop in the vehicle.

He made a citizen arrest and took him to the police station,
