Tonight, Harare International Conference Centre will come alive with excitement for the inaugural The Herald Community Heroes Awards, an event dedicated to honouring unsung champions transforming communities across Zimbabwe.

Organised by The Herald, the awards aim to spotlight exceptional individuals from each province whose selfless efforts often remain in the shadows.

This glamorous evening will not only recognise these heroes, but also pay tribute to 10 remarkable personalities who have made significant impact through their work.

Guests can look forward to captivating performances from the renowned Travellerz Band and the inspiring poet Lovevality Shazhilation.

The event will be hosted by radio personality Nicola Dora (Nikki) and Herald Deputy News Editor Africa Moyo, ensuring a night filled with engaging moments and heartfelt stories.

In an interview, The Herald Editor Victoria Ruzvidzo articulated the essence of the awards: “The Community Heroes Awards are a celebration of love, kindness, and selflessness. By honouring these unsung heroes, we are promoting a culture of caring and appreciation for those who make a difference in their communities.”

She added, “By appreciating these unsung heroes, The Herald is promoting a culture of kindness, compassion, and community service. The awards are a reminder that everyone has the power to make a positive impact in their community. The Community Heroes Awards are a celebration of the human spirit, and The Herald is proud to be at the forefront of this initiative.”

Ruzvidzo also confirmed that this will be an annual event, promising to dedicate weekly space in the publication for stories that highlight the impactful work of ordinary citizens across the nation.

The Community Heroes Awards represent a master-stroke in recognising the contributions of true influencers, often overshadowed by more prominent figures.

This initiative reflects The Herald’s commitment to giving back to the community and celebrating those who uplift others.

As the oldest and leading newspaper in Zimbabwe since 1891, The Herald is setting a new precedent by recognising and rewarding unsung heroes who make society better.
