Bogus property valuer fined

Fidelis Munyoro, Chief Court Reporter

A fake property valuer, Patson Nawasha (57) from Ruware in Marondera, has been fined US$200 for claiming to be a property valuer after pleading guilty before a resident magistrate in the town.

The saga began on August 28 of last year, at the offices of the Valuers Council of Zimbabwe, located at Y122 Bay 3 at the National Sports Stadium.

A tip-off had reached the council’s authorities, alerting them to Nawasha’s dubious activities at Suite 9, Stand 1508, Pine Street Extension in Marondera.

The council, intrigued and suspicious, delved into their database only to uncover that Nawasha had neither applied for nor been registered as a property valuer. It decided to seek Nawasha’s so-called expertise.

The accused, unwittingly walking into the trap, presented his business card with brazen confidence.

The card, emblazoned with his name and the title “Trustee of Pricassion Housing Development Trust,” boldly advertised a range of services, including property valuations, construction and  the sale of stands.
