CHINA will continue to stand by Zimbabwe, supporting its drive towards industrialisation and modernisation, with focus on green and digital transformation, pursuing peace and development in the country, Chinese Ambassador to Zimbabwe Zhou Ding has said.
He made the remarks on Friday at a luncheon to mark the official establishment of the Parliamentary Zimbabwe-China Friendship Association.
The association carries the critical mission of advancing Zimbabwean people’s aspirations for more productive ties with China and is positioned to engage constituencies, communities and Government agencies to rally support for robust China-Zimbabwe cooperation and galvanise more stakeholders and partners into action.
Ambassador Zhou said the China-Zimbabwe friendship is forged in shared values: mutual respect, equity and justice and our commitment to a fair and just world order.
“The launch of the esteemed Association stands as a timely tribute to the 45th anniversary of China-Zimbabwe diplomatic relations, marking a significant milestone in our enduring partnership.
“I am confident that it will function as a vital platform to further strengthen the bonds of friendship and cooperation between our two nations and peoples,” he said.
“The friendship between China and Zimbabwe is rooted in shared principles, transcending time and space. We stood side by side in the struggle against imperialism and colonialism and in the ever-evolving global landscape, we have remained steadfast partners in pursuing peace and development.”
Ambassador Zhou said it was also time to celebrate the remarkable achievements of valuable partnership between the two nations.
