ComOil (Pvt) Ltd has been fined US$250 for selling contaminated fuel at its Lupane fuel station.
The company, represented by its supervisor Mr Livingstone Mubvumbi (42), appeared before the Lupane Magistrates’ Court and was charged for failing to meet fuel quality regulations.
It was found guilty of selling petrol containing ethanol that exceeded the legally allowed volumes.
The Zimbabwe Energy Regulatory Authority (Zera) inspected the Lupane station on December 6, 2024.
Zera tested samples that revealed ethanol content above 50 percent, which violates E20 ZWS 964 standards.
Tanks containing the non-compliant blend were sealed and samples verified by the Standards Authority of Zimbabwe (SAZ) confirmed the breach.
