THIEVES broke into a company along Seke Road in Harare and stole a safe containing nearly US$100 000, R15 000 and $20 000 on Tuesday.

Nothing has been recovered and no arrests have been made so far.

National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said investigations were in progress.

“The ZRP is investigating a case of unlawful entry into premises and theft which occurred at a company along Seke Road in Harare on September 6, 2022.

“Unknown suspects broke into the company offices and stole US$99 971, R15 080 and $20 080 cash which was in a safe. Anyone with information to contact any nearest police station,. 

Meanwhile, on September 6, police in Harare arrested Tinotenda Chigwande (37) and Huggins Nyamukanga (40) for a spate of robbery and theft cases committed in and around the Glen Norah area between February 2022 and September 2022.

Chigwande was picked by the police in connection with a case of theft from a car and he implicated Nyamukanga, who was later arrested after a shootout with the police. 

“The suspects are linked to three cases of robbery and three cases of theft,” he said.

In another case, police in Beatrice have arrested Knowledge Chimuchekwa (30) in connection with a robbery at Pondoro Farm, Chinhoyi, where property worthy US$5 703 was stolen.

Police recovered a stolen cellphone from the suspect. 

The other suspects, only identified as Ray Chirombo of Glen Norah, Harare, Give of Chitungwiza, Trynos of Southley Park, Harare and Luucas of Epworth, Harare, are on the run.
