A Harare man, Watson Muvezwa, appeared at the civil court yesterday seeking a protection order against his ex-girlfriend, Letwin Munetsi.
Muvezwa accuses Munetsi of stalking and insulting him regarding maintenance payments for their child.
Muvezwa claims that Munetsi is causing him significant emotional distress over her demands for maintenance.
“I always care for my child, but her demands have become excessive. Munetsi refuses to go to the maintenance court to claim her entitlements legally; instead, she demands money whenever she pleases,” he stated.
He further alleged that her pressure reached a point where she visited his workplace, informing his colleagues that he is irresponsible and neglects his child’s needs.
This behaviour, he claims, has led to emotional distress and affected his ability to work. In response, Munetsi denied the allegations, asserting she does not disturb Muvezwa.
“I do not go to his workplace to cause trouble; I just want him to provide for our child’s basic needs,” she said.
Munetsi accused Muvezwa of fabricating claims to evade his responsibilities as a father.
The presiding magistrate, Ms Meenal Narotam, advised Munetsi to follow proper legal procedures in the maintenance court instead of making direct demands from Muvezwa.
A protection order was granted in favour of Muvezwa.
