Tinotenda “Walker” Chifamba, the self-proclaimed eco-warrior and face of climate consciousness in Matabeleland, is facing a storm of his own making, a scandal swirling around fake EcoCash payments, unpaid debts and broken promises.

The National Environmental Awareness Trust (Neat), frontman is accused of dodging payments owed to local service providers after a high-profile eco-summit – while jetting off to “Kenya” and “Uganda!”

Bekezela Dube (facilitator) and photographer Benson “Beny G” Gonah faithfully delivered services for Chifamba’s “Multi-Stakeholder Dialogue on Safeguarding Biodiversity,” held with much fanfare at Hillside Dams Conservancy last September. Chifamba had promised the grand sum of US$100 to the duo for their services.

Weeks later, not a single dollar of the hundred has hit their pockets!

Despite relentless pleas, Chifamba’s promises have evaporated faster than a puddle in a drought.
When contacted by B-Metro, Chifamba unleashed a tirade of contradictions and threats!

He first claimed it was an “organisational issue,” telling Dube and Beny G he’d “ask my bosses for approval.”
But wait! A NEAT boss who preferred anonymity told B-Metro a VERY different story: “All budgets were done and approved and we don’t owe anyone.” So who’s lying?

Facing the heat, Chifamba flipped the script!
He suddenly claimed he engaged the pair, “AS A FAVOUR” — implying Dube and Beny G should be grateful for the “unpaid opportunity!”

His texts reveal a man buckling under pressure: “Guys that’s not the only thing I’m doing right. I did that out of favour…this is now coming out of my own pocket. Don’t stress me and push to the point of me saying to whatever hanty…I’ll send when I get time ok.” Chilling!

Chifamba’s payment avoidance tactics reached farcical levels!

He told Beny G he was headed to Kenya and would pay — HE NEVER DID!
He told Beny G his dues were paid to Dube’s account and when he realised that didn’t check out, he said he had sent EcoCash.

The Txn ID was flagged as fake at a local EcoCash agent.
To Dube, he claimed he was in Uganda, lamenting NEAT was “delaying,” and promised to pay from his own pocket.
STILL NOTHING! According to Dube, he ended up resorting to blocking her to evade paying.

Is globe-trotting on the eco-circuit more important than settling local debts?
The scandal strikes at the heart of Chifamba’s credibility.

How can a man preaching sustainability and resilience so blatantly undermine the livelihoods of local professionals who made his event a success?

His talk of, “community” and “biodiversity” rings hollow when he treats service providers as disposable, labelling their contracted work a mere “favour.”
Is this the ethical leadership Zimbabwe’s environmental movement needs?

“It’s devastating,” shared a frustrated Bekezela Dube.
“We delivered professional services in good faith. To be dismissed like this, told it was a ‘favour’, while he travels internationally. It shows utter disrespect.”

Beny G echoed the sentiment: “Promises made, promises broken. Repeatedly. It’s unprofessional and deeply unfair.”
This scandal isn’t just about unpaid invoices — it’s about integrity, hypocrisy, and the true cost of “favours” in Zimbabwe’s green movement. SHAME!
