Father jailed for raping daughter

A 41 YEAR OLD man from Harare has been sentenced to 15 years in jail for raping his 14-year-old biological daughter multiple times, an ordeal that has left the teenager pregnant.

He was convicted after a full trial before Harare Magistrate Mrs Letwin Rwodzi.

Prosecutor Mr Loveti proved that the father first approached the complainant in April 2024 and asked her to meet him at Hunyani River.

At the meeting, the father allegedly proposed love to his daughter, complimenting her beauty.

The complainant rejected his advances, stating that it was inappropriate because he was her father.

She left the scene, but he persisted.

The following day, the father contacted his daughter again via WhatsApp, requesting another meeting at the same location.

When the complainant arrived, the father reportedly repeated his proposal, which she ignored.

He then began to inappropriately touch her, fondling her breasts and buttocks.

When the complainant tried to flee, the father restrained her, dragged her to the ground, and forcibly removed her trousers and underwear.

The father then sexually assaulted the complainant, all while threatening her not to disclose the incident to anyone or face death.

The abuse did not stop there.

In December 2024, while the father’s wife and the complainant’s stepmother was away at their rural home, the accused is said to have repeatedly raped the complainant on multiple occasions.

The matter came to light when the complainant, upon discovering she was pregnant, initially told her grandmother that her boyfriend had impregnated her.

However, she later confided in her biological mother and revealed that her father was the perpetrator.

A police report was filed, leading to the arrest of the father.
