THE Judicial Service Commission (JSC) is next week expected to release results of the first interviews that were conducted last week for Labour Court Judges.
A total of 46 candidates, who are vying for the positions of Judges of the Labour Court, sat for written interviews last Monday, as part of the selection process to ensure the highest standards of judicial integrity and competence.
“We are expecting the results to be published anytime next week,” said JSC spokesperson Mr Daniel Nemukuyu.
“The interviews commenced well and those who would have passed will be informed, although we do not have the exact date when the results will be published.”
In terms of Section 179 of the Constitution, a person qualified for appointment as a judge of the High Court must be at least 40 years old.
The candidate should have been a judge of a court with unlimited jurisdiction in civil or criminal matters in a country in which the common law is Roman-Dutch or are qualified to practise as a legal practitioner in Zimbabwe or in a country which uses Roman-Dutch law.
