Robert Mugabe Square between Harare Civic Centre and the Exhibition Park today sees a Fitness Walk 4ED to celebrate May Day, with more than 10 000 people expected to take part.

The Fitness Walk 4ED is meant to celebrate Workers’ Day and President Mnangagwa’s excellent leadership that has created an emerging healthy economy that is a bedrock of a healthy nation.

Everyone is invited and the participation is for free.

The event is organised by the Zanu PF Commissariat, with all party affiliates expected to take part.

Some of the organisations expected to take part are Homeseekers forED, Miners forED, Vapositori forED, Young Women forED, Farmers forED and Diaspora forED, among others.

Zanu PF director research, strategy and liaison Dr Davison Gomo said the Fitness Walk 4ED was under the theme: “A Healthy Nation is a Fit and Productive Nation. Nyika Inovakwa Nevene Vayo”.

The Fitness Walk 4ED, Dr Gomo said, was aimed at bringing people from all walks of life to participate in a walk that aims to encourage people to keep fit while celebrating peace, unity and development.

“Zanu PF party occupies a pivotal role in shaping the new developmental direction of the country and has since 2018, under the leadership of President Mnangagwa achieved a lot of progress in reversing the socio-economic decline and has registered massive improvement of the country’s standing internationally,” said Dr Gomo

At local level, he said a lot had been done at macro and micro level and the country continued to post significant achievements in key sectors of the economy.

The event was being held also as part of celebrating these notable achievements and recognition of the contribution of the workers across all sectors of the economy.

Homeseekers forED vice chairman Mr Farai Nyandoro said they were going to take part at the event in support of President Mnangagwa’s achievements.

“Our members will take part, since our aim is to ensure all Zimbabweans have access to decent accommodation. We are in full support of President Mnangagwa’s developmental trajectory,’’ said Mr Nyandoro.

The fitness walk will start from Robert Mugabe Square, into Robert Mugabe Road, turning left into Gamal Abdel Nasser Road north to Hebert Chitepo Avenue where the walk turns west and proceeds to Rekai Tangwena Road ending up at the City Sports Centre, close to where it started, where President Mnangagwa is expected to address the walkers.
